Appreciate the shoutout 😀. I am really digging that welding fixture plate for small projects. Great for the small workshop. Also. I was wondering why my cutting fluid was getting thicker. Kidding but now knowing the kerosene evaporates I will thin it out on occasion. Interesting experiment. Now we know, Who needs google anyway.

Hello Dave, Sorry to hear things have been a little challenging for you.... I hope the outlook is better now... Take care. Paul,,

If your ground clamp is working for you then there is nothing wrong with it. It's along the lines of "one mans junk is another mans treasure". You need a guard on your angle grinder, which sounds like a great project. Maybe an opportunity to build a small ring roller, do some welding maybe lathe and mill work too. Thanks for sharing some of what you are up to. I'd be interested in progress shots of your fence too. By the way do you still radio?

@@TheMiniMachineShop I understand that. Usually that's all I do is listen occasionally, although I do like poking around other folks junk at a hamfest . Take care

Forget the ground clamp. Steel is just fine. Virtually all of the current goes through your copper pad. The steel bolt is not a problem either. The distance the current has to travel through it is so minute that the resistance is effectively insignificant. Same goes for the ring ferrule. Your ground lead is fine.

Hi Don, I figured it had to be OK since I was getting good welds. Thanks!

Sounds like your angle grinder might have a metric shaft. .382 is pretty close to 10mm diameter. Use a metric thread gauge to check the pitch.

Hi, I had thought of that but a 16TPI gage is spot on. Thanks!

G'day Dave liked your tit bit , looked like you were having fun in your meticulous way. My mig is only about 220 amps, but the earth lead is Heavy Duty about 1/2" thick with multiple wire, with a large heavy clamp. Never ever had any trouble with that

I think the reason solder does not impede current flow is because it is so thin when applied correctly.
