Welcome to the Flip House: Episode 1
I bought a flip house! I'm a little bit nervous and a lot excited. I'll be sharing the progress with you here on KZread and today is the first installment to share an overview of the work that needs to happen. The goal is to do as much of the work myself as possible but there are a few places where I'll need a contractor to help.
It's an amazing home built in the early 1900s and I can't wait to bring her back to life and give her a fresh new look! What Ioved about this property when I first visited was the layout and the bones. For the most part, this is a cosmetic overhaul with less heavy lifting/ renovation required. I plan to remove some decor choices, give everything a fresh coat of paint, remove wall to wall carpeting and add a few decorative touches. It's in a fun part of town near to bars and restaurants and the Long Island Sound so I'm hopeful there will be a market for resale or rental when the time comes!
Leave me any questions you have and I'll try to answer them in subsequent videos!

I think so too! THank you!
Hi.I am so excited to what h you transform this house. A huge selling point to me in a house (and I realize that I’m not likely the norm), is a kitchen vent over the stove that actually vents out. It might be easy to tap into the chimney stack. Another idea - if you decide to ditch some of the bulky radiator covers, people around me are covering them with granite remnant scraps for not too much money. So excited for you!!

I'm learning some of the challenges of older homes and that vent situation is definitely one of them! Great idea re. radiator covers!
Yay!

THANKS! It's going to be an adventure for sure!
Had you considered incorporating the bathroom space into the kitchen, creating a much better flow?
testing, 1, 2, 3...
I’ve never understood why people put a bathroom next to the kitchen.

As I understand it... the previous home owners converted a pantry into this kitchen/ laundry space. Given the first floor layout, I get why they chose this little nook, but yeah... it's not ideal. :)
