I had Carbon Minoxide in my Dads home in 1994. Parents are divorced and I’d stay with my Dad for the summer. It was the pool heater in the basement. I woke up and felt dizzy and the room was spinning. I called my Mom and told her I didn’t feel well. She said “oh sorry baby I hope you feel better.” Then I said “ I can’t breathe.” That’s when the MOM-meter came into play. She said “hang up Im calling your Father to call 911!”… few minutes later my Dad yells “Jesse get out of the house now!!!!” With all the energy I had I ran out to the front door. Fell onto the grass and started throwing up. I do remember the moment I hit the fresh air it was the greatest feeling ever. I am truly grateful to be alive. 🙌

My first Weird All show was right after his parents died. He played a hell of a show. We tried to meet him at his bus after but his guitarist said he wasn't meeting anyone due to the tragedy. Massively underrated musicians including Al.

Weird Al is a treasure. As a comedian, an musician, and a human. I’m thrilled that’s he’s as beloved today as he’s ever been.
To have the sheer mental strength to get up on that stage just hours after losing the most important people in his life... wow. That's incredible.
I recall reading something Al had said about it at the time,or at least words to that effect, that he said really helped ease his anguish. Neither of his parents had to endure the pain of losing a spouse.

In a way that’s a beautiful tragedy
UHF still one of my favorite all time comedies.
Weird Al is one of the greatest people on the planet. I lost the last two of my grandparents on the same day a couple months ago (one from both sides of my parents families) and had tickets to see Weird Al the next night, I was in such a weird head space and that show definitely helped me get through that as I needed SOMETHING to take my mind off of it for a spell and Weird Al did that for me. Happy that us fans were able to do the same for him as that is an even worse thing to go through.
Al's a legend. He's always been there for us with his music. I dare anybody to listen to his stuff without at least smiling.
His professionalism is astonishing. It must be awesome being on his crew.
I feel so sorry for Al whenever I hear the story of how his parents died. Sometimes I wish I could give him a hug. 😔💙
Al is one of those genuinely golden human beings.
You can see the respect Howard and Al have for each other. Two great careers spanning over the last 40+ years.
Weird Al and his band have been criminally underrated for his entire career. He is one of the true greats, a damn legend, and it's good to see Howard recognize that. I saw Weird Al in 1997 at the Bloomsburg Fair, and it still rates as the best show I've ever attended. Much respect.
Al showed the definition of stoicism
Al seems like a guy who would make sure that everyone in is life, family, colleagues, or fans, were happy and loved. It is for this reason that this man should receive the biggest hug in return.
I love weird Al. The innocence and positivity in him, reminds me of what people should strive for.
Al is one of he coolest dudes on the planet. A truly real person in the entertainment industry is so rare. I hope he attains everything he wishes for.
I was there at one of his first concerts after his parents passed away in Grand Forks, ND. Al put on a hell of a show.

Weird Al is a legend. Absolutely tragic to hear that his parents passed in such a way. The fact he still went on the tour afterwards for the sake of his band, crew, and fans is very admirable. I can't imagine how that must've felt. I hope he's been able to heal as much as one could.
I never knew that. That’s unbelievably sad. Can’t imagine losing both my parents in that way.
Al is one of the best humans alive. class act.
When I saw Weird Al at a meet and greet I told him that his music made some really dark days very bright.
This might be the most respectful I’ve seen Howard Stern in discussing a personal tragedy.
Omg so sorry Mr AL, YOU have put so many smiles on our faces, you’re BRILLIANT, thank you for EVERYTHING “!!!
Weird Al is a class act and is the hardest working act in the business. Really enjoyed his videos throughout the years.
Weird Al is fantastic and seems so genuine
Al is such a treasure, one of those unique souls that brings so much joy and light into the world. Honored to be a long-time fan.
Weird Al is very private. Most of his interviews are about his beginnings. This is the first time I’m seeing him talk about anything serious!
HUGE Weird AL fan since I was a kid and bought Dare to be Stupid on cassette tape. Thank you for all the fun and laughter and music, Al!
I did not know he had been through that. Very sad. My heart breaks for him.
It makes me think about the concert we had on VHS where his parent's introduced him at the beginning as Alfred. So sad.
Al is one of my most favourite humans. I have been a 'fan' since his first hits on the Dr. Demento radio show waaaayyy back when. He is simply so intelligent and kind.
Wow that's so sad. He has so much strength 💪 ❤. He seems so sweet and chill.
Al is a total class act.
He's a real performer. Still going to perform even though something tragic happened.

I 100% LOVE Weird Al with every ounce of energy I can muster. He is the best.
A true American gem
What a national treasure. He needs to be protected accordingly.
I remember listening to Weird Al on the Doctor Demento show on our car radio cruising after church every Sunday night in small town Greenville, Texas in the ‘70’s!
I remember hearing about this when it happened. I love Al so much - I was absolutely gutted for him. I can't even begin to imagine that level of tragedy and pain. :(
The " Biopic" is sooo brilliant! I laughed through the credits at the end.
Always been a fan of Al. Def one of my very first cassette tapes ever
Weird Al is a legend
Wowww. Huge respect for Al! His parents did such an awesome job raising him.
My first real, big-time concert was Weird Al, and it happened to be this tour, and he was every bit as awesome as he always is.
All more the reason to Love him. What a great example of being a great human being!
I did not know this about his parents!! So sad indeed 😖
Just watched the Weird Al movie with Daniel Radcliffe- and it was HILARIOUS- and Weird Al did a great job in his role as well
I went out and bought a carbon monoxide detector for my parents after hearing the news that Weird Al's parents passed away from CO poisoning. Let's just say that with a fireplace in their home, it was a wise investment.
It happened in my home town. I hope he still owns the house. It was nice seeing him from time to time in the cafes.
A friend of mine saw his show recently and said it was pretty great! Highly Recommended it.
Terrific interview. Howard at his best, and Al is obviously an exceptionally candid and interesting person.
Al is so great. Down to earth and just understands it all.
What a great person he is. Always "loved" him. He's a TREASURE!!
Make no mistake; Mr Stern always gets the best dialog from his guests. He knows how to dig into them and get to the tough questions but his skill has vastly improved with age.
It’s so corny that they assume Al is “resisting” cursing it’s pretty clear he just doesn’t find it necessary
This whole time I assumed it was from a faulty furnace, first I'm hearing it was from a closed flu on a fireplace. Howard you are an incredible interviewer and tactfully approached a sensitive subject here.
such a fair & wholesome entertainer, makes me very sorry for the traumatic [way and] massive loss
I've meet Al twice and he is one of the nicest Celebs you will ever meet, both times were after shows here in Australia, as he will do meet and greats for fans which is so awesome of him. But what happened to his folks is so very sad.
I love Weird Al
What a classy and sensitive guy.
Weird al is a lot less weird than some of those people he parodied.
Anyone else notice over the last 30 years these two dudes traded hairstyles?
Al is so talented but more importantly he's just a wonderful human being. We should all aspire to be as good a human as he is.
Weird al healed himself
Weird Al is a world treasure!
Love you, AL!
😢❤ I love Weird Al
What a great dude.. Ive loved Weird Al since I was a kid
Dear Lord. I'm so sorry Al. You have my deep condolences.
This is why we love him. Well one of the many reasons.
Wow that sounds incredibly painful.
