“Weird Al” Yankovic: The Accordion Is Not A Babe Magnet - CONAN on TBS
Комедия
(Original airdate: 12/17/19) "Weird Al" isn't related to "America's Polka King" Frankie Yankovic, but he is the reason Al's parents had him pick up the squeezebox.

Weird Al is one of the most genuine celebrities out there. Also, that suit is amazing.

Years ago a co-worker of mine had me transfer a bunch of home movies from "back in the day". (She's the daughter of an Emmy winning cinematographer and worked in the biz in LA for a long time.) As I went through them, there was FREAKING WEIRD AL and her and a couple friends just chillin' on a living room floor all casual and wholesome! So, can confirm, he's exactly as advertised.

More than 40 years with the same band and manager and no drama. That's a guy with a good head on his shoulders. I can never quite wrap my head around his hair though. Do I hate it? Do I like it? Has he thought of trying something else with it? I don't know. But I'm a big fan regardless.

A little more in-depth here, Weird Al's father is ethnically Serbian and his mother is Italian. Both those countries are famous for their accordion players. Italy makes some of the best and most expensive accordions around. So despite being American, as we all are living here in this country, his ancestral roots played a role in saying hey, perhaps we'll have the kid play the accordion I'm sure. That said I friggin love his music and just him as a person. May God grant him many years!

I saw Weird Al back in the 80's and it was the most amazing show! At one point, he came out on stage hopping on one foot with the other foot behind his head all while he played the accordion. Genius!
