I was lucky enough to meet Weird Al back in the 80s. I recognized him on the street. I didn't want to bother him but I had to go up and say hi and tell him how much I enjoyed his music. We talked for about 5 minutes and then he told me he was starving and was on his way to Pizza Hut and invited me to join him! I of course accepted and it is one of the most memorable events of my life. Al is an amazing person!

and still looks like he hasn't aged since 30...... also he's far more talented than most give him credit for..... he does like 3 types of songs, parody, polka compilation and themed original songs parodies are obvious, eat it, white and nerdy etc, the polka compilations are polka versions of many popular songs all rolled into a medley compilation and the themed songs are like dare to be Stupid which was done in Devo's style but I'd need to really study his albums to figure out what the others are Al has always had a knack for capturing the essence of what made a song cool or fun and replicating it in a fun way that makes you laugh, he's truly a valued treasure long live Weird Al Yankovic!

I'm a musician BECAUSE of Weird Al. I got my mom and I tickets to see him for her 61st birthday. I splurged and got good seats in the second row, and I actually managed to buy the seats directly behind the two tallest and fattest members of the entire audience. And I mean they were huge! The first time I saw Al was on the Running With Scissors tour in 2001. He played the outdoor stage at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in the freezing cold and rain!!!! That was a transformative experience. I owe all my passion for music and my entire career to Weird Al.

I think they took themselves very seriously and had serious excess and serious success. Now they can be themselves without anything to prove; their brand speaks for them and they just have... freedom. If more Americans invested in hard work and vision fulfillment we’d be the richest nation on earth. Instead, we’ve become the wealthiest nation on earth but full of people seeking comfort thinking they deserve something because they see other people who live better than they do. Weird Al and Jay both had a vision, work ethic, and kept going in the direction that would fulfill their vision every time a door opened. Taking themselves seriously removes luck from the equation and makes it a bonus: where planning and opportunity meet.

Our green 1961 station wagon overheating at the Salton Sea. I swear the movie ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ was based on our trip. We even had an aunt tagging along to Disneyland and Marineland. After that station wagon became history, my dad bought a ‘67 Buick station wagon which we still had years later when I took my driving test. It was not easy to parallel park. Like Al, we moved into the house I grew up in in 1959 and my folks sold it in 1977. He’s a bit younger than me but I was also a radiohead and listened faithfully to the Dr. Demento show in high school.

I'll never forget listening to Dr. Demento in my youth, hearing Weird Al's first stuff, accordion and all, My Bologna, and Another One Rides the Bus. Who would have dreamed of the heights he'd achieve. And couldn't happen for a nicer guy. And Jay, 'takes one to know one. Also a great success and genuine good guy and fellow car nut.
