  • @sscswimmer1

    @sscswimmer1

    Semantics. And even then, I think I'd consider anything under 2 minutes a sprint. In the grand scale of energy systems, it's not an aerobically dominated race until you're over 2 minutes and unless you're advocating that sprints are only 50m runs and under, you're using the same energy system. In the scope of events that last 10-20 minutes for them, 1:20 is a sprint

    It all pans out. Its not about adjusting for individuality, he got an unfair advantage on the next event with the wall walks. He pretty much did most of the movement with his starting step. Its not about catering to the athletes as much as it is overcoming obstacles and different athletes having weak and strong points as well as advantage\disadvantage scenarios.

    I’m really annoyed at the second event. it makes a lot more sense for them to have the ring height be proportional to the athlete tight instead of fixed, Brett fikowski legs kept hitting the ground due to the ring height. Having the equipment not setup to fit you is not a test of his fitness that’s literally penalizing him based off of the shape of his body

  • @jhssuthrnmama

    @jhssuthrnmama

    2 жыл бұрын

    On the other hand, rope climbs and wall balls are to a fixed height, not based on the height of the athlete. Crossfit has some events that naturally favor taller bodies, and some that naturally favor shorter bodies.

    @@kristina9605 I do agree that it's ridiculous they failed to make the standard height at least tall enough for the tallest competitor. I was just noting that the idea of a standard height in itself doesn't have to be "unfair."

    They already do adjust for the less tall athletes. Note the riser pads. This keeps the swing consistent, and is also MUCH faster for heat transitions. Fikowski was very unfairly disadvantaged. CrossFit/Rogue seriously mis-managed this. Stupidity abounds. At the very least, at the last minute they should have shortened HIS rings so that his feet didn't hit the ground. Duh.

  • @Murdog83

    I think Toomey got a bit of a "Champions advantage" from her judge on event 2. Some of her ring muscle-ups were bit suspect even by Cross-Fit standards (nowhere near pressing out a full rep). Other athletes got no-repped for far better reps, from what I could see. Nonetheless, she's still an incredible athlete and always one of my favourites to watch. Her bar muscle-up form/stamina was simply stunning!

    Poor explanation of what effect hand placement has kayaking, it is to do with leverage. The wider your hands are the better your leverage. It is like trying to dig a hole with your hands at the far end of the handle from the blade. You have to work so much harder to lift every shovelful.
