@@alan181090 The problem is that this was dangerous for him. Shorter people had to jump less and were at an advantage. Taller people are more at a disadvantage in Crossfit... hence why all of your top athletes are generally 5'9"-5'11" for males.
Loved everything. Kind of annoyed the announcers kept calling a 500 meter RUN, a sprint. Sorry I'm a former sprinter... That was a RUN.
@sscswimmer1
2 жыл бұрын
Semantics. And even then, I think I'd consider anything under 2 minutes a sprint. In the grand scale of energy systems, it's not an aerobically dominated race until you're over 2 minutes and unless you're advocating that sprints are only 50m runs and under, you're using the same energy system. In the scope of events that last 10-20 minutes for them, 1:20 is a sprint
So proud of Pat during the sprint event
Mal was awesome! She totally has a future! I know the announcer is a Star Wars and Marvel fan because he mentioned Han Solo and Thanos😆👊🏾👊🏾
I feel exhausted watching. These men and women are amazing.
It’s so unfair that Fikowski’s feet hit the floor whilst doing muscle ups, let the athletes adjust the straps before the event to their liking. He can’t change his height, but harsh on the taller athletes IMO
@barkingbabs
2 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of events where his height is an advantage though. Should the hay bales or bars for muscle ups be higher for him?
@walterclay1784
2 жыл бұрын
It all pans out. Its not about adjusting for individuality, he got an unfair advantage on the next event with the wall walks. He pretty much did most of the movement with his starting step. Its not about catering to the athletes as much as it is overcoming obstacles and different athletes having weak and strong points as well as advantage\disadvantage scenarios.
@mattpeters6224

The length of the strap determines difficulty. The longer the strap the more difficult the muscle up is. The answer would be equal lengths just accommodate the tallest athlete obviously men and women. Cheers

I like the 550 meter sprint itself but how they set it up was just poor. They should have made at least lanes in the beginning so that for example Medeiros can not be just pushed away. The athletes train all year for the games, they deserve better!

I’m really annoyed at the second event. it makes a lot more sense for them to have the ring height be proportional to the athlete tight instead of fixed, Brett fikowski legs kept hitting the ground due to the ring height. Having the equipment not setup to fit you is not a test of his fitness that’s literally penalizing him based off of the shape of his body
@jhssuthrnmama

@vanillaghetto

They already do adjust for the less tall athletes. Note the riser pads. This keeps the swing consistent, and is also MUCH faster for heat transitions. Fikowski was very unfairly disadvantaged. CrossFit/Rogue seriously mis-managed this. Stupidity abounds. At the very least, at the last minute they should have shortened HIS rings so that his feet didn't hit the ground. Duh.
I think Toomey got a bit of a "Champions advantage" from her judge on event 2. Some of her ring muscle-ups were bit suspect even by Cross-Fit standards (nowhere near pressing out a full rep). Other athletes got no-repped for far better reps, from what I could see. Nonetheless, she's still an incredible athlete and always one of my favourites to watch. Her bar muscle-up form/stamina was simply stunning!
