We went insane watching *GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH* (First time watching reaction)

Mr. Hogan? We have Gremlins in the projection booth. Would you help us?
Holy moly. This movie was NUTS. Enjoy our reaction to GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH, our first time watching! Directed by Joe Dante and starring yet again Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates, this movie was by far the craziest and weirdest sequel we've ever seen.

    I would have placed links in my other comment but it was removed as fast as I placed it, something your channel does. And I was going to show amazing things for Gremlins. I suppose your channel doesn't allow comments over a specific length to be typed. Let me see if I can post in multiple short comments, that worked. Kind of don't like doing that because I like it all in one comment, but oh well.

    Hey I have some things to show you related to Grimlins. Do a youtube search for Gremlins animations in the Unreal Engine 4 and 5. Type in "UE4 Unreal Engine Gremlin Dances to Thriller". And don't tell me that a studio can't easily make Gremlins of any type and be creative with the open mind about it after seeing that video mentioned, if one person as a fan can do that.. imagine a studio.. and that doesn't even cost money if you have people already capable of modeling, animating, creating the sounds and so on for each Gremlin. Think about the level of movies and video games with the Unreal Engine 5, you have Unreal Engine 4 and 5 youtube tutorials, especially UE4 tutorials on just about any game mechanic, and the Epic's marketplace with free content to get started, the youtube tutorials are easy to make things like mud tracks, weather changes, climbing with a character, anything for your game easily.

    And then check out making a Gremlin in Blender and other modeling programs, you will want to find videos on this on youtube, I found videos where people actually did have Gremlins they were modeling and showing how they were doing this from other modeling programs. Once you model it, place it in the Unreal Engine 5 and it will be like the video I mentioned above where the Gremlin is dancing, and just animate it, give it sounds, maybe even control it like a video game instead of just an a.i. or just movements for scenes as seen in that video.

    Movie trivia: When the movie was released on VHS, they cut the scene of them cutting the projector film, and replaced it with them causing the VCR to glitch into static, and changed the TV channel to old westerns. The "hero" was John Wayne (old footage with a dubbed voice impression) shooting down the gremlins.

    Gizmo is what i believe they call an immortal in the movies lore, basically yes a very rare good gremlin (1 in a million) who is effectively ageless... unfortunately the regular gremlins live short lives, and they know it and its one reason they are little shits most of the time.

  • @DanJackson1977
    @DanJackson19772 жыл бұрын

    The theme of "gadgets" and "technology" is used in both films because the myth of Gremlins started as a fun way to explain why machinery went haywire or stopped working in WW2.. so the idea of having a whole building full of "new" technology for the Gremlins to mess with was kinda brilliant. Also, the Looney Tunes connection isn't just becuse director Joe Dante is an uberfan of Looney Tunes and was personal friends with Bugs Bunny animator Chuck Jones (hence the intro).. there's actually a classic Bugs Bunny short from WW2 where Bugs battles a gremlin, and another LT short called Gremlins From the Kremlin where russian gremlins harass Hitler (who is flying a plane for some reason).

    Actually that is incorrect. Quote unquote "Gremlins" was a term to created out of ignorance to blame unknown causes of mechanical failure *LONG BEFORE* strictly ONLY World War 2 as you have stated. It was invented at the dawn of the earliest technology as an explanation for things like electrical shorts, breakdowns and circuit malfunctions for ALL technology the entire world over in all countries since the very first mechanical & electrical devices were invented. Later it was found that electrons passing through certain elements (such as copper filaments) actually ate away at the material and caused everything from short circuits to electrical fires. This would later be used to create useful inventions such as the fuse & fuse box. The fuse had a thin copper filament that if enough electricity were to pass through it all at once it ate away at it killing the fuse and stopped the supply of electricity to the building it was protecting preventing electrical fires from burning it down to the ground.

    I remember standing outside the cinema in the rain with my Mom waiting to see this movie on release day. It was a cold wet summer's day. I lived in a tiny town and our theatre only had 1 screen and not many seats. We almost made it for the first showing of the day but they stopped the queue with about 5 people in front of us. So that meant waiting 2 hours in that rain for the next showing. Finally after standing waiting the people started to come out. A group of about 5 teens, 18-19ish came out and started shouting out spoilers at us very cold, very wet, queuing folk... My Mom could't take it she walked over to the loudest one and punched him right in the face. He instantly fell to the floor his nose bleeding like crazy so my mom kicked him has hard as she could in the face and his eyebrow split open like soggy tissue paper. There was blood everywhere. His friends had ran off and all the other the people in the queue were clapping and cheering my Mom. The ticket lady had seen what happened as we were so close to the front and she gave us free entry and free ice cream. The moral of that story? None.. My Mom is a bad ass who loves movies and hates spoilers. hehe

    It will always impress me how expressive the puppets are and how seamless the puppetry and practical effects are, the few cgi effects work well, the gargoyle gremlin is the only cgi that really sticks out, while the electric gremlin looks exactly how you expect.

Also, please do watch Rambo, its actually a great piece about how we treat our veterans and one of the first major movies to normalize talking about PTSD and its prevalence among Vietnam Veterans.

    Did anybody yet mention that the two lab twins were the same actors who were in Terminator 2? One played the guard getting the coffee, and the other played the T-1000 mimicking him, then stabbed him through the eye. Aside from the CGI of the morphing T-1000, no camera trickery in that shot. Just two identical twins. Similar to the scene in the abandoned auto garage later on, where Linda Hamilton's twin sister played her "mirror reflection", so to speak, when they were working on fixing the T-800.
