Oh, I got slammed all the time for liking CREED; yeah, it's very much that "Emo-WannaBEEEEE-METAL" style of music, but some of the songs were sincerely very poetic (even Nickelback could sound good when teaming with Santana)

Deservedly so!! I hated them from the beginning, even before they strangely, horribly, got popular!! I was handed a promo CD of My Own Prison a year before they got big, it looked bad with that horrible cover, and my hunches with new music is always spot on, and I knew it was going to suck, and it did...also if you know who Butch Walker is...from the Marvelous 3, now a solo artist & award winning producer, in his memoir "Drinking With Strangers", he tells of when he was asked, tried to be convinced, to produce Creed, and he heard them & thought they were extremely bad & felt bad for them, how their manager & label head was trying to tell Butch how he would regret it if he said no, how they would make tons of money, bla bla bla, and yes they did get popular & make money, but no regrets because they still suck and Butch has standards & did not sink so low to work with them...he only works with artists he likes, not if they will make money...me, I still think Creed are one of the worst bands ever, popular or not...

Amazing band. Seen them several times in concert. Danced to the song "With Arms Wide Open" at my sister's wedding. They weren't really labeled a Christian rock band but I'd you listen to their lyrics you can see why tons of people thought so. Scott Stapp is the lead singer and he ended up being an alcoholic mess. He's since sobered up and one of their first concerts, after he cleaned up, back he did the show shirtless and he was jacked!! Also the music industry and the media hated them. They were like the Nickelback of the late 90s early 2000's.

I am usually anything but the guy to recommend a ballad to you, but as parents you have GOT to listen to "With Arms Wide Open," a song that the lead singer, Scott Stapp wrote when he found out he was going to be a father for the first time. It won them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 2001. You'll both love that one. Of course, if you want to know about Creed you have got to listen to the first single off of their second album, "Higher." It spent a record breaking 17 weeks at number one on the rock radio chart, and is perhaps the song they are best known for. I've been to about 70 concerts in my life, and Creed is the absolute best at making their live performance sound as good as the album. At that time, Stapp hit every high note, all night long, and sang them with such power I couldn't believe he still had a voice at the end of the show. The band has broken up and gotten back together a couple of times now. Creed sent out a teaser tweet a few days ago saying "let's go back to the summer of '99" showing some announcement is coming on 7/19, almost certainly a new tour, hopefully (Oh God I HOPE) a new album. So they appear to be getting back together for a third time. Back when they were at their peak, after more or less firing Stapp, the other three members of the band formed another band, Alter Bridge with a new lead singer, Myles Kennedy. Lots of Alter Bridge songs worth listening to, but I've always liked "Isolation" the most. It rocks hard. When not doing Alter Bridge albums, Myles Kennedy also acts as the lead singer for Slash's solo albums. And when Creed isn't doing various reunions, Stapp has recorded a few solo albums. He had a bad substance abuse and mental health issue that made him suicidal at one point. He's got a couple of great songs dealing with those issued "Slow Suicide" and "Purpose for Pain" that you might also check out. Creed is one of those bands whose members just keep popping up in new places. Along with the other bands/solo efforts mentioned above, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti has issued a couple of solo albums that are full on heavy metal, much heavier than most of Creed or Alter Bridge's musice. And he has done some work with Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, in the past.

A really good band, Scott definitely shows his father's influence on a lot of songs. They have a lot of really good songs, their greatest hit's is one of my main albums to listen to before I head off to sleep. You could pick prettly much any song off of that and I think you would really like it, but I think you will really enjoy "with arms wide open, higher or what's this life for" as one of your next listen's

My Sacrifice and One Last Breath were both from the "Weathered" album by Creed, and after they released after 9/11, it helped move me from fear of what had happened to courage, but I would put this album on repeat on the CD Player back just before MP3's advented widely. I listened to this album on repeat for months from 2001-2002, because it just spoke to my soul and helped me so much with where I was in life at that time!

My Own Prison (especially the accoustic version) is absolutely haunting. A must listen if you like Creed. Arms Wide Open is an extremely emotional song about a man learning he's about to be a father. Another must listen if you like what you've heard from Creed. Creed basically swapped singers and became Alter Bridge, another great group worth listening to. (They group wound up both doing a lot of music for Edge in the WWE)

Creed is a rock band that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Their musical style is often categorized as post-grunge, alternative rock, and hard rock. Their music typically features passionate vocals, heavy guitar riffs, and introspective lyrics. Some of their popular songs include "With Arms Wide Open," "Higher," and "My Sacrifice."

Scott Stapp was the lead singer. I was always a fan of Creed. Him and the band parted ways and he did a solo album that wasn’t bad. The drummer and guitar player have another band now called alter bridge and they are awesome also. For whatever reason they aren’t as popular here as they are over seas. You need to check them out. They have a concert that they did with a huge live orchestral.

Love Creed! They got a lot of crap from the media, I think because our society is not kind to people with mental illness. And their lead singer, Scott Stapp certainly had some mental health issues. The next song you guys should do is "With Arms Wide Open." It is a song written about finding out he is going to be a father. It is powerful, hard rocking and yet it is beautiful, like most of Creed's songs are.
