Could this robot completely change the way the world gets around? Zoox wants to build a future where its autonomous vehicles (ahem, NOT cars) are ubiquitous.
For all of the recent advancements in autonomous tech and the hype surrounding brands like TESLA and its self-driving cars, many are still skeptical of vehicles with no human pilot.
So, is it safe? Is it really the future of transportation? The Hard Reset Podcast hosts get together to discuss how these vehicles could change the world.

Omg I feel so seen and heard watching this!!! As a disabled mother with a special needs toddler who navigates life without a vehicle this would be such a huge help.Driving is stressful and dangerous for some people like individuals who suffer from seizures. Although I am grateful for public transportation and rideshare companies, I believe driverless vehicles would be great because I have had uncomfortable and even some situations where I did not feel safe with the drivers. Transporting a car seat in and out of rideshares is extremely difficult. I carry a high back car seat into every appointment and every store. 😢 I hope this is reality sooner than later. I also have a huge circle of disabled individuals that would benefit from this soooo much. I’ve been telling a friend with TBI and some blindness caused by an automobile accident for over ten years that this will happen one day and she will be about to navigate around independently again one day! ❤

The point is that you want people away from the wheel. If the car was invented today with the deaths it causes, it would have been illegal. The only reason it isn't is historical and economic. Additionally a car is incredibly accessibility unfriendly. Lots of people just aren't in a position to drive. So a self-driving vehicle means that you don't need a driver's license anymore which is pretty huge.

This is the future in North America. We could have had high speed rail but people just love their cars too much to fund that so instead we're gonna get these.

all high speed rail projects are ridiculously expensive and serve only a specific group of people who want to do one specific thing at specific timetables you will never have anything that can compete with the vast complex road network + personal cars and i dont care about you "efficiency" arguments, im not some farm kettle to be transported and stored in the most efficient way possible

@faustinpippin9208 no but you rather kettle that will wait hours and spend years of time in meaningless and unnecessary traffic. The states fundamental problem is the way your cities are designed. You could have 24 hour railways and public transport running that can fit any schedule

@@naeemabed9126 I drive a car my entire life and a legit traffic jam is a rare thing i know you got brainwashed by your favorite youtuber into thinking that every highway in the world has 20 lines and is congested all the time ". The states fundamental problem is the way your cities are designed" i can agree with that and there is a easy fix: (proper zoning), thats how its done in EU and thats why most places in EU that are car centric look like they are not (stuff is close so we dont need so many wide roads)

@@matheus8530 if you want convenience, low price, comfort, time savings then you absolutely need to own a car and most of people want to own a car and just because your urbanist youtuber tells you that a tiny hot space in the summer during heat wave with 20 people inside (that dont necessarily showered) where everyone can have a virus or everyone can blast their annoying music is more comfortable/better then a car then it doesnt mean its true... please use your own brain and do your own unbiased research, then you will see that most of what these people say is bs (especially when you learn about the generlized fourth power law) and not everyone lives in a city like NY where a autonomous car would be waiting for you idling all the time every 10 m on every corner.... and comparing renting with owning is like with owning a house and renting one renting makes you poor and own nothing and you are always nervous because you will lose everything when you lose your income and you will be left with nothing and cars are ridiculously cheap if the gov doesnt make them artificially expensive people in africa can own cars....
