like make stroads into complete streets? (i.e. wide sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and one narrow two way car lane, and if possible a space for transit (bus, train, et cetera)

Cars are amazing for transportation of good and services and travel. However cars severely impact the human experience we have with others. Communities suffer when they don’t have more interaction.

Yes for car free cities. Cars ruined cities for every other mode of transport. I truly believe that cars should never have been subsidiesd to the point where everyone can afford to own and drive one. It just doesn't work for dense cities. If we put all the money we wasted on cars and the infrastructure for cars into public transport our cities would be amazing!

"to the point where everyone can afford to own and drive one" yea because that 500$ used japanese car from the 90s i bought really was "subsidized" into oblivion I still remember when i got in subsidies like....wait....i got NOTHING....i even paid tax for buying it.... and when i buy fuel 50% of it is taxes and anytime i have a car related expense i also pay taxes and on top of that i have to sponsor road infrastructure that keeps (TODAYS) society functioning (so a derp like you can have food delivered to your store so you can type bs comments) go learn about the generlized fourth power law and you will realize that most of what the "urbanists" channel say is purs BS

I’ve been to Japan, once. Japanese solve the problems with Ginza, and underground world.

So Detroit profits along with the oil companies. Sadly we are stuck with this paradigm and it will take decades to undo it. Decades. You will also have to convince people to go through the sacrifice and pain necessary to move away from cars.

Answer: EVs. Ideally eco friendly EVs and renewable energy. Also most of America is so spread out (which I think is a good thing; I've lived in large cities and I prefer "Town Life") that people will always have, and need, private-type transportation. Again, EVs.

Cars should only go in the highway - towns/cities should have no driving.

I actually live just outside of my "town" of 50K. Banning cars would kill the towns businesses. Because if I have to drive to town and then take a bus to get groceries, food, fashion, etc...I'll go somewhere else. Dinner and town events _may_ be worth slow public transportation.

"Why are we giving more space to cars than people?" Because cars are bigger, heavier, go faster, and need more room while turning than people. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles in the US compared to the US population is about 83% (there are at least 8.3 vehicles for every 10 people). It's pretty obvious why we are giving cars so much space.

Try and look up Civil Technologists and nothing. I think you guys are Civil Technologists :) Glad your vids are longer now - I am with Noam Chomsky in believing you can't get a new idea across in less than 15 minutes

YES, zoning laws and what can non-restaurants do with "parking" spaces instead. i was in the middle of my comment when he mentioned this; and he said it perfectly; so i scrapped my comment and substitute my support instead.

All these restaurants need to provide enough parking space for the deluge of hungry customers during lunch time. If it gets too hard to find a parking spot I'll go elsewhere.

What’s wonderful, is in a well-designed community, more customers than you can handle are able to comfortably walk or bike to your restaurant.

I like the less dense urban or rural areas. Edit1: added 'the'.

Answer: because people prefer to have transportation they control. I know statists think that's a bad thing. They prefer being able to control people.

@@HigherQualityUploads go ride a bike in a heatwave or winter in snow and on top of that while carrying food for you family of 4 or even better, go somewhere with your small kids that have to be transported in a "baby carriage" in these conditions

@@arv9993 i lived in many EU countries and most people want to drive car, but many of them cant because they got outpriced out of them, and old cars get taxed into oblivion to make them artificially expensive so poor people cant afford them stop believing what the "urbanist" channels say
