Y’all just don’t understand. Marvin was about to go though a divorce with Anna Gordy-Gaye. Those were raw and true emotions that he had.

The crazy thing about this song is that he wrote this song with his first wife Anna whom just a few years later he did an entire divorce album about! This is one of the most beautiful and soul stirring songs of his career IMO.

There will never ever be another Marvin Gaye. I remember the day he died. I was a teenager walking with my 1st boyfriend in Central Park NYC, visually it was such a beautiful beautiful day only to be one of the saddest 🥺.

This is a golden goodie by Mr. Gaye that often gets overlooked. But not by me. Being a 70s teenager when this song was released, it is always on my radar when I want to hear some Marvin Gaye. Thanks for the reaction.

Actually, Marvin had to record 3 albums with all the proceeds going to his ex-wife. The first one was called "Here, My Dear"; which shows how clever Marvin was in addition to everything else. Also, if you can find it, the Lisa Stansfield version of this song on the Marvin Gaye tribute album is mind-blowing! You guys are sincere and adorable; much love your way 💞!

Love IS enough to hold us together. The problem is, we don't know what love is. It's not an emotion. Love is LIFE itself. If we understood this we would live for hundreds of years before we EVER had to confront death. And even then, it would be an option.

The irony to what you just said is that the message of this song is one of the sourest experiences you NEVER want to face...a bad breakup with someone you love. Marvin just weaved such a beautiful tapestry of music to make the bitter pill a little easier to swallow. A musical genius indeed, respect and RIP.

Introducing the perfect singer. She is a legend, a queen and a healer. She is omnipotent and can sing any song. So anyone who hears her songs becomes a big fan of her. Don't hesitate to search for Korean singer 'Sohyang' and choose her song. As an intro song, cover songs by divas such as Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, or songs like 'Lean on Me' and 'Bridge of Troubled Water' are good. You will never regret it.

This is a true song that he wrote for is ex wife Anna Gordy (the owner of Motown Berry Gordy's sister). He was going through a breakup and in a new relationship at time. So on the Lets Get It On record its about new love and lost of his old love. You need to listen to When did you stop loving me, when did I stop loving you. He wrote that during his divorce proceedings.
