Yap, mine is an 89 Gen 1 pajero, daily driven. So reliable still I take it anywhere. Parts availablity is enormous, you can find it anywhere.

One of our goals now is to start going to some of the summits all throughout out the eastern United States and collecting the souvenir stickers to stick on the truck. One of the peak goals is Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Hoping we can crest 500,000 miles on the truck when we finally retire it. Currently at 120,000~mi

Congrats! I have a 88 TD intercooler and loving it, probably my favorite vehicle ever for now, it takes anything, not the best ride for the highway, but if needed it will take it, enjoy it man!

that will forever be a funny conversation. XD
I love it
You are wrong about DIFF lockers in that Pajero, it doesn´t has Diff lockers, just a 2 speed transfer case and rear LSD (just in the 2nd gen Pajero it start having Super Select transfer case as an option, this way you can have a centre differential for an AWD option in that specific transfer case wich in a big heavy SUV was super useful, the Center Diff of course need to be lockable to return to be a 2 speed transfer case for off road use. I can tell you that after having 3 Pajeros and 1 Montero

So, how do you explain the wheel lock? Or the fact the hubs do, in fact, lock? It has an actual light in the dash that informs you when the diff lock is engaged. Being a '90, could it be a factory retrofit?

@@CarRant Dear, those are automatic wheel hubs...for the junction between the front cv shaft and the wheel itself...in the 80´s was common to have manual free/locking wheel hubs for the front CV axles, but AUTOmatics free/locking hubs was an upgrade in comfort (besides...and downgrade in reliability)

@Pablo Maira I actually looked at importing one as a comparison! But right now I'm on the hunt for a Kogata Type 73.
Is it 3 litre or 3.5 litre v6?

@@scooter0017 I've loved every second of it. The Gen 1 Paj is very capable. Just be nice to the trans, and you'll be set. The manuals aren't as strong as the autos in the first generation for some reason. Otherwise, you'll love it.

i never understood the fascination Korean and Japanese manufacturers have with Spanish-sounding names and terms. Tiburon? Santa Fe? Prado? Diamante? I'd love to hear the logic behind it, be a fly on the wall in the creative meetings.

I know... such an odd name choice. Like I said, don't make sense why they have such a fascination
