he didnt fly head first into the boards, he flew hands first into the boards, i dont even think his helmet touched the glass,, his visor hit the dasher on the way down but i imagine he didnt even feel that

Hockey’s a reminder of how much ppl refuse to entertain worst-case scenarios until they’ve already happened. Luckily it IS worst-case scenario and god I love hockey but yeah players would do themselves favors by pushing for more safety in their sport

Yeah. Things like this just happen in hockey, before you know it a razor is inches from a jugular. I've always advocated for the player's right to choose whether to wear a neck guard or not, and if I'm being honest, a year ago I would confidently say I personally wouldn't wear one. After Adam Johnson, and seeing more close calls like these, I'm down with making them mandatory. Phase them in and grandfather guys like with visors, it'll be fine.

Its exactly how it works. If he hadn't turtled the hit, Troub's doesn't go over top and his head doesn't get kicked. The "kick" wasn't intentional, it's not like he targeted the head, he didn't even swing his legs. If the Carolina player stayed up and took the hit using the boards as leverage like we're all taught, he's good.
