The segment from 0:12 to 1:08 brings back memories - I visited that set as a teenager, and this is the first time I've seen it on KZread. I was living in Queens Village, up the block from an ex-cop who was good friends with WCBS crime reporter Chris Borgen. When he found out that 13-year-old me wanted to be in newscasting when I grew up, he pulled a few strings and got me (and my dad) onto the set for a 6pm newscast. I remember meeting Jim Jensen, and Jim Bouton, who was doing sports at the time. Jensen struck me as a nice man. Anyway, I wound up in broadcasting, but part-time and off-air - I'm a board op for Entercom in Richmond, VA.
I remember the early 2000s intros from my time in college; we didn’t get local network stations (except PBS) until my junior year

WCBS opening with the trumpet from the early 2000s gangsta as fuck!
All the CBS O&O's should be getting updates to their graphics and openings soon. We're into four years with the current graphics and openings.
0:37 Ba ba ba ba ba basketball gimme gimme gimme the ball because I'm gonna dunk it!!!!!
2:09 If this was actually used as an open, it hasn't surfaced yet (this was apparently a possible test open). Incidentally, Bill Feigenbaum (who did the animation for the intro) also worked on the 1983-era intros for CBS' NBA and NFL coverage.
The original by T.L. Hughes had almost 140K views on YT at the time of this upload.
Anything certainly can happen in New York. That’s for sure.

CNBC-TV news opens
The worst period in the history of WCBS came between 1997 and 2003. Although the station was able to trade first place with WABC in the 1980s and was in a strong second place for the first half of the 1990s, the station crashed to third place between 1994 and late 1995 despite having a traditional newscast format. This was made worse when Bill Carey became the station's news director in the fall of 1996; the format that Carey instituted in May 1997 was a hybrid traditional/tabloid newscast format that remained in place with various changes until early 2003. During this period, Joel Cheatwood (who was previously a news director at both WSVN and WHDH) took over as news director for the station. Cheatwood's changes failed to get the station out of third place, resulting in his removal by the middle of 2002. The format was phased out at that time, although the station's logo that was introduced with the format would be retained until it was removed in April 2016. As a result, the station began to climb into second place, and would ultimately dethrone WABC for the top spot in 2011. Since then, WCBS and WNBC have traded between second and third place, with WNBC attaining the second place slot on most occasions.

Nice job on the video. I found a station in the New York area that has not been updated. WWOR-TV.

@@newsman9539 There really hasn't been anything major found from WWOR, and since their news department is no longer in operation, I'll be avoiding them. KSTW in Tacoma/Seattle is another example of this situation.
You are missing the 80's WCBS drawing circle eye News logo intro from the report of the death of Michelle Marsh!

Shaunde Perez WCBS and WLNY is not owned By the o&o company, its owned by CBS, WCBS is flagship, WLNY is duopoly partner.

@@isaacgallegos3371 Correction, WCBS is the flagship station but it's still O&O by CBS, and WLNY is also owned by CBS making it their duopoly sister station. Tbh, CBS is just waiting for the day when WPIX contract with The CW ends so they could make WLNY the flagship CW station
did the "Channel 2 Newsroom" 11pm (Dave Marash era) have a theme?

I’m most familiar with Stephen Clark from his role as anchor at WXYZ-TV.
