I picked this up yesterday. I often pick up waves software when they’re giving things away or have a useful plugin thats got a great sale price.I originally meant to only get the cosmos sample librarian as a free stand alone. I have way too many samples and while i already have several librarians, I haven’t been entirely sold on how useful they are in my workflow. Cosmos took a long time to organize my huge library but it did such a great job of categorizing everything and it has so many different ways to find them. After installing Cosmos and watching the basic tutorials i saw waves was also offering the CR8 sampler for $10. Ok. And it works with Cosmos? Even better. I already have several feature rich samplers i use but like the simplicity of CR8. Often i just need a simple sample player to some down and dirty things to a sample.

10 bucks for this is a fine deal. The sampler has the right amount of features to be creative enough without getting too cluttery and get in the way. I used to diss Waves but their commercial strategy has much improved lately, selling quality products at very affordable prices. This plugin is welcome especially since he free scene is severely lacking in the area.

Great presentation my guy! IMO, this is slapping kontakt out da solar system.. I tried the demo yesterday because I needed a sampler to use in Luna, not gonna lie after 30 mins of using I thought kontakt was trash but still, I considered and ALMOST paid $200 for it just because I wanted a sampler in my DAW. Then I did a little search and the almighty God led me to discover this new jawn cr8 by waves for da low low outstanding price which I thought was too good to be true at first. ONLY $9.99!!! Had to cash out and whooooo boy I’m so glad I did! Cr8 got me diggin in the “crates” so that’s what ima call it now (cr+8=creight) 😁 TML

Most DAWs have their own sample tools built in. I see a lot of overlap with things I can do in Ableton with Simpler and Sampler. It is a little hard for me to see the use case when it is more efficient to work with the samples directly in the DAW instead of adding another layer via an external plugin. Or am I missing something?

I wouldn't judge this sampler based purely on Ableton's capabilities which are almost entirely built around manipulating samples. MOST DAWs do not have this capability. Pro Tools, Reaper etc etc are capable of this, so for only a few dollars they are going to get what Ableton does without having to purchase and learn a new DAW. So actually at $9.99 it's a bargain! Thanks for pointing out that it's giving us Ableton level for such a tiny investment!
