whenever I have the noise of a car on my recordings, I add some noise of a lawn mower, the focus won't be on the car noise any more. When I have singing birds on my recording, I add the barking of dogs, you have to trick the noise!

Since this video, I'm trying new things now! I trust my 5" mono driver for the noise issue (with reference music if not sure). I can it place right in front of me, so just mono essentials without interference. That being said this principle beats room measurement imo. That's insane good sounding ! The future is here....

This is astonishing. I just got it and haven't had a chance to use it yet, but hoping to pick up some knowledge on how to use it, I clicked on your vid. I simply can't believe this. I've used EQ tricks, noise gate tricks, smart noise gates all sorts of things to diminish back ground noise, some more successful than others. But all of them relied on the masking phenomena. However, most always there was some trade off with the vocal sound the more you tried to get rid of the back ground. But this plug is ridiculous. Seems to have very little effect on the vocal while greatly diminishing the background. And the simplicity makes it even more amazing. I can't wait to use this!! Kudos for a well done video! Glad I clicked on it first. What a world we live in, especially for those of us that go back to when we spliced several versions of two track tape with a razor blade to assemble the final master lol! What we have sitting in front of us on a laptop these days is Disney World. Glad I lived long enough to see it and use it!

That's ridiculously good. Not only better than other plugins in results, but gets there so much faster, without twiddling multiple controls. Game changer for spoken word with a lot of ambient noise, like a street interview. Throw on a deverb afterwards to clean up room reflections and you're going to have a damn decent voice track. Imagine this cleaning up old archival audio like radio shows, early field recordings, telephone calls, etc. And if Waves can harness this same "neural" technology to deverb at this quality and price- wow.

This reminds me of when I first saw Melodyne's video of correcting an individual note in a recorded guitar chord. The first comment on the video was: "Where is your god now?" And I totally understand what they were trying to say. SOOTHE2 is a really good problem-solver. A one-dial solution kind of like VX, but for different problems. Really excellent de-esser and fixer if your eq is out of whack. Makes an hour long problem into a 10 second problem. THANK YOU for testing VX with singing. Tons of videos out there demonstrating the VX product with rap and dialogue, but yours is the only one I could find that really tests it well with singing. I live close to the flight paths for both the big city airport and the lower-flying planes landing at the municipal airport. This is going to seriously change my life. Obviously iZotope RX is going to be the main alternative to this.

I need one of these that removes hiss from fx pedals on a digital piano that doesn't sound like a piano. It's great that this exists for vocals. Not sure how it could work for music that isn't an obviously recognizable instrument timbre, but the hope remains that someday... maybe a visual representation of the sound in which I could highlight and listen to different spectra, and "train" the software to recognize the "instrument" sounds. Anyway, wow, this makes a big difference on vocals. There ARE some artifacts, but an advantage of weird instrument sounds is that there aren't preconceptions about what they sound like. With vocals, everyone recognizes the artifacts pretty easily. Still really a big difference!

I actually think the best example of this is you just speaking normally in the vlog review setup. For a lot of people, including me, we have a fine, makeshift vocal booth, but being in a flat, it's not perfect and perhaps a little bit of ambience or room tone can bleed through. It appears this eliminates that, without affecting the quality of the vocal track. Going to come in amazing for voiceover and audiobooks

Warren, if you use the plugin right now on the podcast, I hear aggressive gating, which it makes it choppy, I must say this plugin is amazingly good. I know my next buy, hehe, thanks for the review. Now in radio studio's we use pre amps, these are tweaked as a whole, compressor, gate, etc. A little different from studio setups. Tweaking that way is a little more time consuming, but that's is what I like. My studio is not fully treated with stuff. Makes a small reverb in the speaks. But I hide it with compressor/gating as long it sounds natural. But this plugin makes it a lot easier. Thanks again, daaaag = bye :)

The difference in quality and/or gating compared to the Pro version is very noticeable. The Pro version definitely sounded very clean, crisp and clear from the tests I've done. The 30 USD version is still very good though. Much better than anything else at that price.

@@Producelikeapro I think you didn't try Broad 1 HF in the Pro version. It allows for a little bit less aggressive noise removal but retains the crispness and clarity of the voice with much less artifacts. This is one thing that's missing from the lite version apart from the multiband filters, that I think is the true game changer. The difference is huge from my experience. If Waves would be willing to put Broad 1 HF in the lite version, it would be a no contest at 30 USD.

Fun toy. I wonder what it would do for Tape hiss, wow and flutter? Or would it destroy the sound of the instrumentals along with the Hiss? Cassette tapes have quite a bit of hissing background noise. My cassettes of my Rumblebugs Band could use some way to clean up the cassettes' background noise. Recording the tapes onto protools at a 32 bit setting, might help. Not sure about that. A lot to consider and weigh in the world of cassette to digital.

One VERY important thing is - This is a VOICE noise reduction plugin, so trying to reduce the voice from the acoustic is not going to work, it makes the plugin look bad for no reason… The Vx stands for voice :) Additionally, the neural networks do not consider instruments to be ambience, and so reducing instruments from voice is also not what this plugin is designed to do, though it will do it to some extent, and as Warren said Broad2 is better for that, but instruments are not “officially” supported, as they are not considered “ambience”.

Great video, thanks. I kinda thought Waves may have given up on great new products and INNOVATIONS, I guess I’m wrong. I’d love to see a comparison between Clarity Vx and the WNS Noise Suppressor. Now what does Izotope do with RX? Maybe RX Vx10 is just around the corner. I still think Izotope knows noise more than Waves. What goes through my mind is, is Vx just a smarter noise gate?
