In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Dr. Arvind Bhateja in conversation with Raj Shamani. He is the lead neurosurgeon at Sparsh Hospital and the founder of ‘Giving Back’. He creates content around brain health and many other medical myths and has around 300K+ followers on Instagram.
In this episode, we talked about how most young people are heading towards serious spine issues due to wrong sitting postures, how to correct these postures, how less sleep and quality of sleep affect our brain health, and why disease like Alzheimer's happens. We then talked about ways to improve the quality of sleep, and how alcohol, smoking, and weed affect our brain. He also rated the worst drinks for our brains. We also talked about how to modulate dopamine levels, how to improve serotonin, and astile colin naturally. He then shared about the list of chronic diseases that are increasing.
Towards the end, we talked about a list of foods that are good for our brain health, how diseases like Parkinson's and dementia happen and what can we do to delay it. He then talked about different brain scans and who all should do. We talked about in which scenarios during an accident one should do a brain scan, how brain hemorrhage happens, and does childhood mental trauma affects the brain. We ended by talking about neuralink and its future.

I personally feel Raj shamani podcasts are better than TRS podcasts because ranveer doesn't ask too many questions his podcasts are like one way communication and also his podcasts are more about personal life of a invitee on the other hand Raj shamani asks some logical questions and also questions related to common people or daily habits. Or baki jisko jo sochna hai vo soch skta hai so idgaf.

We all can still change our lifestyle and reverse the health conditions. All the best. Get motivated without any supplements.when we realize life short and time is ticking automatically motivation comes. But sad part is we don't sit quietly to to realize anything. So now let's pause for a moment and look into our lifestyle and be mindful because we don't know what will happen in the next moment. All the best guys.

Awareness about the brain function and maintaining its health is outmost important. I have lost more than 6 months of my 2023 in tackling the brain issues. I got head concussion by just falling down from bycycle. Although, I just got some scratches on my arms, but unfortunately, my head got banged with road (I was not wearing helmet). It was a very tough situation for me, as it has affected all my daily functions. I was cut out of social life and work life and faced intense depression for the first time. Then, I started understanding my brain health. Like the rainbow food diet as mentioned in the podcast (also suppliments like omega3 b12). And slowly incorporating exercises, walking and calm activities (warm water tub bath, reading books, and minimizing social media) helped me a lot to get heal my brain. Now, i focused more on my mental health as I have learned it through a very hard way. Thank you for such an amazing podcast.

Also My request to you is that to please address the segment where students and tennagers are really confused about how to start businesses with minimum capital where their are endless opportunites, and folks like me and many others only know the 4-5 options and at the end many of us suffers. I think middle class and economically weaker segment should be kept as a prime focus, I think the growth of this country lies here. Please bring the guest where we can get the insights related to the same. Till now you've really brought some serious changes in me, love you. I mean this words from the deepest of heart. 1:15:00 Raj Shamani sir Thanks ❤ am a student of class 12, preparing for JEE,, due to my cursed childhood ( some Horrific stuff happened in my 10th) I Had many mental problems.. I was a topper student from bachpan but cause of 👆 i was traumatized .. Ruined up my 10th boards... I couldnt tell my relatives and they judged me in all way.. for my 11th.. i couldnt join a good coaching cause i had "Low score in 10th boards" and fees was too much to pay... Friends started ignoring me like i never existed... I was so heartbroken ( i really felt my heart got broke due to stress) i was even admitted in a hospital for a week.. some time after that i saw somewhere "you can die due to heartbreak" .. scared shit out of me.. thats where i started watching u ^_^ .. you cleared my fear from " dying due to heartproblems" ( I Didnt have my heart scanned or something but i followed the advices given) and now the fear of "damage on brain due to mental trauma " ... It was stuck in my mind that i have got mentally much weaker and in my 11th i also saw " Brain cannot recover" ...... YES THERES NO NEURO PROBLEM AM SO HAPPY OMG... I Still have Many Many "Behavioural issues " it takes much effort for me to talk "Normal" and need to be much concious ever since... yeah im in control!.. as it is no neuro problem.. means i can recover and improve it!!.. Thanks for giving me a reawakening ❤‍🔥.......

Dementia is nothing but people becoming kids in their old age. High level functioning gayab ho jati hai because body is trying to save energy. Our society has made remembering our life events so so important to our existence that they take up way too much resources and we are 'lost in the past'. We say 'Be present' to even kids these days right? People didnt used to have good memory. I remember news channels always saying that whatever bad happens in our society like rapes, murders, scams.. people forget and move on within weeks. Thats how common man was. Then came the concept of timeline on FB : ) And then ofcourse the explosion of social media. Now everything is being documented and people remember their timeline way too strongly. How can they be present in present? Dementia hoga he. I am not saying having a good event based memory is a bad thing. Just that its not for happy go lucky not so evolved people. Again there are exceptions. Some people in small towns have extra ordinary memory. Again its a socially rewarding skill. Whatever I lost interest I hope you got the point : D I think its the Dementia kicking in : D

Let go of the long term memory and enjoy the present in your old age : ) Our generation is much more awake than previous one. I am sure it will achieve it when the time comes. And yes achieve financial freedom so that you can afford a robot nurse to take care of you. The society will simply suppress you if you are being a kid and having a good time in your old age. I hope society normalizes oldies being useless. They have to let go of their work related wisedom and have only survival wisedom available. Therapists should specialize in that. Robot nurses will take care of the rest. For any unexpected challenges like disputes, law related issues, major health issues, there has to be a body which takes care of them. Its a very good business model. Major hospitals have already started offering old age society apartments with lot of services. I hope they can include more. Though its only possible in a socialist society. A capitalist society would hope for the old person to spend all their life savings on healthcare and then keep them in ICU for days post their demise.

See the right way to tackle the insomnia problem is to form unions. Service industry is relatively new and it doesnt have the concept of unions like the manufacturing industry did. Millenials have been a soft generation. Genz is an aggressive generation which doesnt even know what team work is leave alone Union. They both have to come together. The thing is we are being pushed beyond our limits. Uske baad choice nahi reh jati. You need 'drugs' to feel alive again. Be it death scrolling on social media, or drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, clubbing, or workaholism not letting us get out of our chair for hours.

We are helpless. We are addicted. We are being made to overwork. Everything around us is being made 'flashy' and 'addictive' for our attention. Even therapy is not working anymore. People will need rehabilitation soon. I am talking general population not criminals. Not psychopaths. General population. What does that tell us about our world? Its turning dark and manipulative. No one would want to bring their kids in such a world. Next generation would be jumping off buildins if we continue this way.

In the Next Round, use AI and Robotics to improve the life quality of humans. We are being blessed with so much advancements in Energy and Technology so that we can let humans be humans. Our greed and hunger for power will make Life go extinct and just let man made metallic Rocks continue the journey. Well rocks were there before us too. And trust me they are far more advanced and gigantic. We are living throught the dumbest and the most coward period of human history where everyone is sitting around watching everyone else suffer.

This is to highlight Raj that it seems you really ask questions with the pure intention of learning, you ask right questions, which makes it very interesting and informative. I’m glad you’re not commercialising it unlike Ranveer. It’s kinda disappointing I used to like Ranveer’s podcast at some point but he has lost the authenticity. He keeps trying to get answers for questions which could go viral or could be the clickbait, I’m glad you’re on the right path. And not intruding anybody’s privacy to get viral. Proud of you ✨ Wishing more success to you and your team ✨✨
