In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Dr. Sandesh Mayekar in conversation with Raj Shamani. He is the Father of Modern Dentistry in India and a Philanthropist. He is the Founder of the Indian Academy of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry. He is also the author of the book "More than a Mouthful" which became a best seller in no time.
In this episode, we discussed how oral cancer happens and how can we save ourselves from it. He shared how minor things cause oral cancer and how we can manage early signs of cancer known as pre-cancer condition. He showed us the best way of brushing our teeth and how to put the toothpaste the right way. He also shared shocking side-effects of not brushing our teeth at night, and how oral health affects diabetes, heart, lungs and other body parts. We further talked about what leads to bad breath and the connection between not brushing right and gut issues. We also talked about lesser-known facts about why kids get cavities and does drinking Coca-Cola really melts down our teeth.
Towards the end, we talked about teeth sensitivity, tongue cleaning, and many other areas of oral health. We then talked about how much investment it takes to become a dentist and busted some popular myths about oral health.

absolutely agree- dental cleaning every 6 months a Must. Will save all your teeth. Suggestions - To avoid gum bleeding due to aggressive floss usage. This will stop all the stabbing on to the gums. Use : G.U.M Floss Threaders ( its a plastic needle , in which you thread your floss and then use) G.U.M Easy Thread Floss, Or Oral B - Glide (it has a stiff tip and floss thread all in one). Use Colgate - Gum Health Ultra Soft for a Toothbrush.
I am a Dental Hygienist and experienced with 12 years. I found here one of the best conversation on oral health. I want to put one fact there don't use S@nsodyne toothpaste without dentist/ hygienist prescription, because people who are using this type of paste available in market are suffering from gums disease and tooth brittleness.

What a podcast!! @RajShamani I am so in love with this podcast. This is by far the best podcast on your channel that I have seen. The best thing about your podcast is the way you frame questions and how you go about them. The questions are very basic and intriguing at the same time. Such podcasts seamlessly bridge the gap between a layman and an expert. Please have him again on the podcast. We'd love you to host similar guests on your show. Keep up the work man!

Hey doc just wanted to ask if we already have tar tar how should we remove it? And does it cause problems?
@drruchikabains5632
2 ай бұрын
@@memesbytom . Yes, tar tar is the root cause of bad teeth… if u have tar tar slowly u will have swollen & bleeding gums ,bad odour condition called Gigivitis and after some years if u’ll not remove that tar tar (calculus) it will eventually leads to bone destruction of the jaw ..condition (Periodontitis ) and u’ll notice losening of ur teeth … ur gums will reced … its horibble … so best treatment of ur tartar removal is (scaling n polishing ) n its totally safe plus maintenance of ur good oral hygiene as Dr Maykar already discuss in this podcast.

True, in India doctors are good only in KZread video, when we meet then they hardly advise anything ..neither guide untill and unless ask personally and problem is concerned.very few doctors are good and really respectable .

@@himansusharma5012 it's actually not absolutely true. I live in Germany and the heath care system is so slow and inefficient in diagnosis. Where as in India atleast we have quick access to health care which is a blessing.

It's the mind blowing one 💯....and it shows how much oral health awareness is needed in our society!

Knee के only एक ही इलाज है 1 घण्टा साईकल चलाओ daily, ज्यादा दर्द है तो पैदल कम से कम चलो।
