    Thanks for your comment! Yeah, Warrior has been putting out some great goalie gear the last few years. Their innovative designs really feel like they are catering to goalie who want their gear to both perform well and last a number of seasons.

    Gloves are so personal, it's hard to commit without trying one on. But the different glove break liners make the G4 much less of a gamble buying sight unseen.

    Am interested to building up to maybe a Passau set. But, I would love to be able to try anything that is in my size to know what I like for that set. Passau has really awesome customisation. I'd love to try out these bindless deign. Wish I could go to Tendy Fest. Just one heck of a drive from Alberta

    I've heard good things about Passau and their customer service is great with pre-ordering consults. If you have specific sizing needs, they could be the way to go. TendyFest always looks awesome, but it might be a bit farther for me on the US East Coast!

    Can you PLEASE make a video on how to change the straps on these pads?! I purchased the G4 Senior pads (thanks to your videos) and have since purchased the addition strapping kit (includes a couple nylong straps included in the PRO model and not the Senior) and am wondering how to swap out the existing straps. Thanks!

    Thanks for your suggestion! While this is not specifically in my production schedule, I may be able to add it. Otherwise, you should check out Warrior's KZread Channel. Kirk Allen does a great job at showing some of the different strapping options in their G4 instructional videos!

    You should try to use Warrior knee guards with hockey socks on top (same as players on shin guards). I also tape mine to keep them from moveing and that helps a lot.

    I tell you man, I still can get over how much pads cost lol. My first set was a 350 dollar entry level bauer model, and then traded them at my local rink for a slightly more used but higher end bauer model. Pretty sure I'll just be buying used gear from now until I die haha. Great channel man, subbed.

    Hey, thanks so much for your comment and sub! You rock! For real, the price of gear is way up there. Slightly used gear is totally the most cost effective way to get outfitted! Thinking back on it, before the internet, the local PIAS was the only easy way to find used gear, but now it's so much easier! Also, online retailers usually discount older gear... so that with discount codes can save a bunch! Thanks for your comment!

    Another great video. Does anyone know if the G4’s are in fact a smaller pad? Mine are easily an inch or so smaller than my G2’s and both being 36+1.5. My knee also lands much higher on the block making me wonder if they’re too small for me. Thanks again for another video.

    After over a year of playing how have the pads help up durability wise? I see trav4oilers is having some break down and even needed to be warrantied. I have had my g3 pro for 3 years. and they have been great. they are a bit soft now thats all. i just received my g4s and sold the g3s im wondering if i should return the g4s and try to wait for the g5 though i am in a bind as i sold the g3s or should i change to the optiks 2 or maybe the slr2. what you think?

    I'm starting to look at Warrior Gx pads as an option for my next set, and have been blown away by the price difference between the Senior and Pro models. Is your review for the Pro or Senior model?

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    I have the Custom Pro G4s, but from what I've heard, the Senior model is really close in quality and should perform the same as the Pro version. IMO, Warrior gear is the best bang for your buck regardless if you go SR or PRO!

    The Warrior toe strap system you did not like: I believe I experienced the same issue when I started wearing Warrior for the first time (Gen 2). The elastic strap was too tight and caused stress on my knees when in the butterfly. My solution was to movethe strap down a slot on the toe tab and after about 15-20 skates the elastic eventually stretched out more and now they are perfect. I like your invention for a faster fix however.

  • @MrSaucyMack
    @MrSaucyMack5 жыл бұрын

    Thumbs up on the review. Do you happen to measure the weight per pads? Just curious. Also the hypercomp thing, is that just a stiff plastic or carbon fiber material? I can't seem to find what it is exactly (I'm starting to think its just a marketing term to sell stuff) :) Thanks.

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    Thanks for your comment! My 32"+1.3" pads weigh in at 3.75 lbs a piece. If you're coming from an older pad like me, it's almost a 4 lb combined difference. It doesn't sound like much, but it was definitely noticeable on the ice. With regards to the Hypercomp material, as I am not privy to Warrior's designer materials, my understanding is that the Hypercomp in the thigh rise enables a thinner profile and weight savings while still providing rigidity to maintain the integrity of a thinned out thigh rise over the life of the pad. I can tell you that the G4's do flex in an s-shape when pressure is applied, but still feel like a stiff pad with regards to rebounds.

    I'm coming to these from the original Rituals - do you have any advice on your ATK measurement and what size pads you ended up getting?

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi, thanks for your comment! My ATK is 16.5". My G4's are 32" +1.5" which was the exact same size my original Ritual G1s were. I also previously had Smith 6000s in 32"+2". So depending on how you like the fit of your G1s, it's safe to say you can base your new set off of those! I will add that the thigh rise is thinner on the G4s than the original Rituals, so if you had/have issues when them overlapping, that MIGHT be less of an issue with the G4s.

  • @MikeBurke30

    I'm also a long-time Smith goalie, going all the way back to the 1000 series. I actually was still using my 1000 series catch until the G3 came out; couldn't get accustomed to the G1 (or anything else I tried!). I'm currently in a 34" + 1.5" on the G1s but have been contemplating dropping to 33". Knowing the thigh rise is thinner may make the decision a little more difficult. Thanks again for the info!

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, Smith fans unite! Actually, Warrior has a Guarantee Fit policy. Check it out on their site. I can't recall all the specifics, but I think if you order pads and they aren't the right size, you have a small window to contact them and send the unused pads back for a different size. Are your knees landing low on the knee block? If you look at Warrior's sizing chart, I think the difference between a 34" and 33" is actually -.5" in the shin and -.5" in the thigh for an overall -1" reduction. This might help with your decision... or just make it worse!

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    6 жыл бұрын

    Aw, I forgot all about the Carrying Strap! I pack my pads in my bag so it wasn't even on my radar. It's basically just a nylon strap with two snap hooks at each end to clip into the rings for the toe straps. Actually, the snap hooks are the same hardware on the toe straps, so if one of those breaks, you can always repurpose the ones from the carrying strap!

    Could you measure the exact width of these pads please?

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi, thanks for your comment! While I don't have a set of calipers to accurately measure, the overall width is 11". That being said, the face and outer roll by themselves come in just under 11" but the inner and outer gussets and that little extra width to reach the maximum 11" allowance.
