    I’ve gone through so many trappers in the last couple years. So frustrating with some heavy, some loose and no idea what break angle worked for me. More pop outs than catches. FINALLY too a chance on a used Kenesky glove and I love it.

    Nice, trappers can be such a personal thing for lots of goalies! I was always an older school trapper guy (construction wise), but now that I've been using this bindingless glove for almost a year with virtually no wear, I don't think I can go back! Glad you found one that you love! Kenesky makes great gear!

    I’ve always preferred the Reebok/CCM 590 break gloves but these are up there. I’m in love with my Warrior G4 Pro glove. Warrior is really innovating on all their gear especially the gloves with the ability to pull the liner out or buy a separate liner for a different break. My first game out with one and I was very impressed. Not to mention their pro level gear is not insanely priced in order to cover league licensing fees like the other brands that throw money at the pro’s to wear and market their gear. Keep up the great videos, really enjoy your content!

    Thanks for your comment and kind words about my channel! You make a great point, what Warrior saves by not paying NHL licensing fees, they pass directly on to their consumers. In that regard, they really feel like a company who isn't pandering to the masses but really have their end users in mind! Thanks for sharing!

    Just picked up a set of G5 SR+ gloves... gonna definitely take time to get used to. I currently have a Brian's Focus glove & Zero G blocker (Zero G pads too)... these are my favourite gloves by FAR!!! Especially the catcher... opens super wide. The Warrior catcher is super light, but blocker is quite a bit heavier than my Brian's. I love the closure of the Warrior glove, but the narrow opening of it I'm not too fussy on. I will give it a solid go/break-in before making up my mind... the reason why I might be making the switch over is Warrior's innovative designs, simplistic graphics, value for $$ & how many adjustments they have to make your gear feel truly customised... that's why I went SR+ over pro... firstly, the price was so good on the SR+ that I couldn't turn it down & b/c the cost is so affordable for me, it allows me to try the gear before making a bigger & more expensive commitment for custom Pro gear. I will have to try the different catcher inner palms to see if that changes my opinion on the glove. Sorry for the novel guys lol

    Love that glove! The idea of a replaceable palm should get a Nobel prize. I'm using a CCM premiere r1.9 and I think it's a 590 break. I love how big it presents (lundqvist style) but it is taking longer to break in than I thought it would. Also, I've gotten a few stingers already, which is a bummer.

    Thanks for your comment! Yes, the replaceable palm is a really great concept! The one thing that I am struggling with is getting a really wide open mitt when presenting the G4. I think when looking at a glove, if the intent is to funnel pucks into the pocket, there as to be some compromise on how wide it opens and vice versa. Thanks for sharing!

    favorite gloves for me, koho 500 and koho 560. they both just seemed to suck up pucks, stick handling was a dream in both, in the 560 stingers wasnt an issues, on the 500, did break a finger, but not every shot was a stinger.

    Catchers are extremely important to me and my style of play. My favorite glove ever is a Vaughn 5500. I've used a 590 and 600 Reebok/CCM which were both good catchers but I found the protection to be much worse than the Vaughns. I'm very interested in trying a Warrior as the 5500 is impossible to find stock anywhere. In general I prefer a 2 piece cuff for comfort as I'm a much more reactionary catcher and have a baseball background. I also practice a ton with a racquetball to make my glove hand better. Also after trying quite a few gloves I prefer a single T pocket with a skate lace. I think the single T looks better and the double T doesn't have a noticeable effect on performance.

    Ahhh, the legendary T5500! Yeah, that's a baseball mitt if there ever was one! I was the biggest fan of Pete Smith's 1000 gloves which were a two piece cuff with a similar feel! I think for a while the trend though was to increase protection in gloves which compromised that "baseball glove' feel. Especially at the height of the "blocking era". That being said, I think more companies are shifting back to a more "catching" glove design. Thanks for your comment and the racquetball tip!

    Ethan We're in the same mindset. I didn't like the Warrior G4 Pro, neither the Warrior GT (2018). It felt so alien on my hand and they were both really stiff and hard to use. If you have the $ you should talk to Factory Mad, the person behind that brand, Dennis, used to work for Vaughn during those times, and his catcher glove is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. But they're $550 and take atleast 10 weeks to get done, so that might be a problem. It is worth the wait though.. I was close to cancelling my order after having it postponed multiple times, really starting to infuriate me.. But when it arrived, god damn.. The most comfortable and best functioning catcher there is on earth and I can say that with confidence, because I did try on every single glove that Goaliemonkey has for sale. It's not comparable, they feel like a McDonald's toy compared to the custom Factory Mad. I will NEVER EVER swap this glove, it has solid protection at the same time as being absolutely effortless closing/opening wide.. truly blew my mind.. Cheers

    I think to me that it looks kinda like the insert was put in backwards, the wider part should go at the other end I think as it seems that it would line up better with the shape and layout of the Velcro, it might also allow you to fully close the glove, as it looks right now it seems as though because of the way it was inserted that it is causing the glove to not be able to close. Don't own this glove and haven't gotten a good look at it, so I can't say for sure, but I definitely like the looks of the G4 stuff! Great video! I am currently running the Bauer 1X equipment, and other then some durability issues on the legpads, the glove is actually quite nice.

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your comment! I thought about putting the insert in the other way, but it then puts the added protection at the heel of your hand as opposed to closer to your fingers where you'd want it. Also, while I have never ordered a practice palm glove, my understanding is that they aren't meant to be closed anyway. With regards to durability, I've been using this glove multiple times a week since May and it shows no wear other than puck marks! Thanks again for commenting!

    I'm thinking about getting this glove but my hands sweat a TON when I play. I love the idea of having so much freedom without the wrist strap but I'm wondering, without the wrist strap, won't my hand slip out of the glove all the time? In my CCM premier right now, My hand slips a lot and my wrist strap is really what keeps it in there. I know that my premier doesn't have the tight back-of-the-hand strap and so the wrist strap plays more of a role in keeping the glove on my hand, but I'm still anxious to know whether or not I can rely on that back-of-the-hand strap in the warrior to keep the glove on my hand all game long. Do you have any input or advice on this subject?

  • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hey Jeremy, thanks for your comment! TBH, the lack of a wrist strap is the biggest grip I've heard from other goalies with regards to the G4 glove. For me personally, I like the mobility of no wrist strap in my gloves, but if you need one, the G4 may not be for you. That being said, at the tightest setting, the 3-point strap on the back of my hand really locked my hand in the glove. There is some adjustaability with the strap placement so it may suit you needs. I would suggest that if you are able to, try to find a store that has one locally so that you can see for yourself if it would work for you. Thanks for your comment!

    One trick is after playing, when drying your glove, open it up and place if palm down and let it dry that way. That should help with opening the glove wider. You can also play around with loosening the backhand straps that could help with opening the glove wider.

    Warrior is one of the few companies that doesn't have lace looped around the outside edge by the finger tips. My GT tore right at that edge after two skates. Sometimes, there is a reason everyone does something a certain way. It's a bummer, because aside from that, it is a great glove.

    @@VOGoalie Today, Warrior told me that the leather tearing is not a warranty issue. They said they typically warranty seam splits on gloves, and that the leather on senior (non-pro) models is expected to be fragile. I'm really disappointed in them. • @VOGoalie

    @VOGoalie

    Thanks for your comment! You make a good point. I have used pro gloves from big name manufactures like Vaughn and Bauer and also some from smaller guys. Unfortunately, my gear budget prohibits me from trying everything out there. My basis for the G4 being the best glove ever (for me) is the innovation behind their removable liners. As a beer leaguer, gear is an investment that I'd like to use for at least a few seasons (or 4-5). Features like new palms and bindingless perimeters make Warrior gloves stand out for me in that area. You're right though, while many think it feels small, I think a more appropriate description is it feels compact. The segmented backhand protection and cuff feel "locked down" which can seem awkward for some. Admittedly, at first it did seem like a Boxing Glove, but over the last 6 months, I really think it has the right balance of protection, versatility and performance. But trappers may be the most personal piece of gear, so not everything works for everyone.
