Those are good stretches. I recently saw a video of a girl saying that the splits are easy to achieve and that you can learn it in 30 minutes. Well, I‘ve been a dancer since I was 3 and I can guaranty that trying to do the splits in 30 minutes is incredibly dangerous, even if you already are into stretching. So, I’m really grateful to see that not all people are spreading wrong and dangerous information in the internet!

I’m with you all the way! I recently saw video of a girl saying if you do these stretches, you can have your splits within the next 3 days! And I’m thinking, that’s crazy! I’ve been a dancer for the past 11 years and only got my splits(left, right and centre) last year. You need to work hard for your splits, you need to stretch 6 days of the week while still giving yourself one day of rest. Be determined but don’t push yourself too hard, you could pull a muscle! Have a great day and stay safe!

As a former dancer I want to add to this: don't start trying the splits until you're already accustomed to stretching! It's not your weight or your fitness level that matters, mostly. It's your practiced flexibility. Square your hips and don't push it into pain. Flexibility will help you in your life so don't be afraid to start stretching today. I promise you'll feel so much better.

As a dancer gymnast and figure skater (or just a flexible person in general) I would say this is a good way to start off on getting a split, and if you already have one to keep it you must practice it every day or if you can’t cause your sick or something just do some stretches, even if you can still practice your splits that day still do some stretches before cause if your not prepared enough you could really hurt yourself.

When I was little (like 8) my neighbor had this odd uncle. Looking back I think he was mentally handicapped. Well one day her and I were practicing trying to do splits. Her uncle came up behind her and pushed her body down so hard that he completely snapped her femur. Her legs weren’t ready to bend that way and him forcing it seriously hurt her. Just wanted to share because these stretches made me think back to that day. She was in a cast for a long time but made a full recovery.

Hi as a competitive dancer, I just wanted to make sure people know that flexibility is gained over a Long period of time not in a matter of an hour or a few days it takes consistent, stretching your splits or other flexibility. so if you don’t get it right away, don’t push yourself so far that it’s super painful. You should feel a bit of a stretch and it should feel tight but never unbearable. Just making sure No one gets hurt YOU GOT THIS❤❤❤❤❤

Hey guys! I want to add a few important points, as a person with high flexibility and a sports career in the past: Make sure you have proper support within your muscles and joints. Increased flexibility requires higher strength to keep everything in place. It may unintentionally play a role in unwanted injuries in case your flexibility level is higher than the supportive strength. So build necessary strength around your flexibility. And make sure you’re feeling in control when stretching and after. Try to not overdo it out of ambition :) Also, make sure to listen to your body and go slow. Be in focus and high body awareness. It will help to keep your body in a position/state where you won’t hurt yourself. And, of course, it’s best to allow the process and release forcing - please choose health :) Be gentle with yourself. You have your body for your whole life. 💚

The multi-stage fitness test (MSFT), also known as the beep test, bleep test, PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run), PACER test, FitnessGram PACER test, or the 20 m Shuttle Run Test (20 m SRT), is a running test used to estimate an athlete's aerobic capacity (VO2 max). The test requires participants to run 20 meters back and forth across a marked track keeping time with beeps. Every minute or so, the next level commences: the time between beeps gets shorter; participants must run faster. If a participant fails to reach the relevant marker in time, they are cautioned. A second caution ends the test for that runner. The number of shuttles completed is recorded as the score of that runner. The score is recorded in Level.Shuttles format (e.g. 9.5). The maximum laps on the PACER test is 247,[1] which former Central Middle School student Dennis Mejia achieved,[2] the only person to ever reach such a level. The test is used by sporting organizations around the world along with schools, the military, and others interested in gauging cardiovascular endurance, an important component of overall physical fitness. The multi-stage fitness test is also part of most health-related fitness test batteries for children and adolescents, such as Eurofit,[3] Alpha-fit,[3] FitnessGram[4][3] and ASSOFTB.[5] The multi-stage fitness test was first described by Luc Léger[6] with the original 1-minute protocol, which starts at a speed of 8.5 km/h, and increases by 0.5 km/h each minute. Other variations of the test have also been developed, where the protocol starts at a speed of 8.0 km/h and with either 1 or 2-minute stages, but the original protocol is nevertheless recommended.[7] The test appears to encourage maximal effort by children. Additionally, the test's prediction of aerobic capacity is valid for most individuals, including those who are overweight or obese.[8]

@@maryeverett2266 No, it really isn't. It took me four years in high school to get front and side splits perfect and I was one of the only dancers who could. Some people have much tighter hips, bad instructors, or even less time. You should never shame someone for pursuing fitness, it's a bad look on you.

@@Perceptionreflection If it took you that long to get a splits, it means you didn't try hard enough. If it took other people even longer, were they trying at all? Even if you could only naturally do a splits that's about 90 degrees, you can get your splits within a year by just sitting in a splits position for a few minutes everyday. It doesn't require coaches or any signifiant amount of time.

@@maryeverett2266 or, my dear, it was more that I was a high school student who had carpentry classes, horseback riding, yoga, digital art, and a permanently damaged hip flexer. Like I said: you should never attempt to shame anyone. It makes you look bad... and also makes me question who taught you fitness? 'Not trying hard enough' is super toxic bullshit usually taught to cheerleaders or ballerinas who will burn out very quickly after they leave the tutelage of the person who taught them that. Those students are victims and will struggle with that mindset their entire life. A good instructor teaches pushing to your limit but NOT past it.

@@Perceptionreflection There is no such thing as "should" or "bad". Aside from that, I know it's absolutely possible to get the splits within a year because that's what I did. My natural splits was not even to 90 degrees. I practised resting in a splits position for several minutes every few days, and got the splits in a year and a half. If I had done it everyday, I would've had it within a year. Since it is physically possible for someone to get a splits in a year, the only reason they wouldn't is because they didn't try hard enough.

My feet will slip against the water, I use the pillow between my thighs to prevent myself from getting hurt. Then I slowly remove the pillow, and try to sit (in splits) carefully. Done! I can do splits now!

be careful and don't overstretch you could injure yourself and set back your flexibility. I've already read a lot of comments like this but it's so important to be careful I overstretched my left leg a few weeks ago and haven't been able to stretch it. I am a dancer and I have my middle splits and right leg, but my left leg is almost a foot off the ground compared to just last month when it was only a few inches away from the ground.
