The only way a fighters union will work is if every fighter refuses to fight and join the union. The fighters should be the ones holding the power, not the promotion. Let's go WAND!

It would only take 3 or 4 current recognized top guys from each weight class to organize. Jose Aldo will be the first current champ to support collective bargaining.

Black Diamond​ no, they don't the Reebok deal was worth 11million. That's what ONE NFL contract is worth. I can't imagine any of these fighters being able to put their kids through college. And this isn't just about the UFC it's about setting a standard across the board.

This is a great idea, and really needed considering how the UFC have been doing their business lately.

Aplaudindo de pé ao Sr. Wanderlei silva e aos demais lutadores pela grande iniciativa E lembrem-se quem são os REIS do show são os lutadores, são eles quem suam, sangram, e dão seu coração nas lutas. merecem e devem ser respeitados e lembrados.

Esse cara é um exemplo de campeão. chamam ele de cachorro louco, mas de louco ele não tem nada. ele é uns dos poucos que tem a coragem lutar não só nos ringues, mas fora deles. ele luta pelos diretos dos lutadores de hoje e os de amanhã.

Good or bad i think this is best for the fighters. Kinda makes me feel guilty that i get so much entertainment from MMA and the people who put their lives on the line to give me entertainment are treated like dirt. i want the best for the fighters. More power to you Wanderlei.

Having the same entity as both promoter and sanctioning body is a direct conflict of interests. It would be like having one attorney representing both sides in a civil suit.

Show, Wanderlei! Parabéns pela iniciativa! Essa arbitrariedade na escolha de quem vai enfrentar quem tem feito muitas pessoas perderem o interesse nas lutas. Eu me incluo nessa lista. As pessoas não gostam de injustiça. Você ver um cara mal ranqueado, como o Mcgregor, enfrentando o grande campeão José Aldo, só porque ele sabe falar, é o mesmo que incentivar os lutadores a fazer curso de oratória do que treinar pras suas lutas.

I agree. I love Wand but I don't want their to be a union. Take the Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight. That fight should have happened years ago but thanks to the Ali Act, Mayweather could delay it as long as he wanted to.

General420smoke Because they've invested their entire lives into a certain career path. And fighting the wrong guy at the wrong time could kill any chance they have of achievieving their innermost dreams. They should have a say. Because theirs is the entire risk.

u know it's a sad situation when u have a guy speaking to a comission telling them "boxing" used Mma as an example to another comission as a defence on abuse to athletes and people in the boxing industry by promotions monopolising through force of leverage in industry power. so sad it's ignored in mma still I really hope they win...

I'm so happy as a fan that the ball is now rolling toward a fair shake for the fighters. I think we as fans could do our part too. If we see anymore of the dumb shit taking place veto the ppv's were it's occuring. To give an idea of what I mean 1. CM Punk 2. Chaels title shots. 3. blatant favouritism 4. Reebok uniforms forced on fighters. 5. No sponsors for fighters but the UFC huge ones. 5. The shitty pay payed to up n coming fighters as a % of the millions the UFC makes per event. They claim they want the sport to be just as mainstream as boxing or NFL, but it's just the opposite, it's a fucking corporation who;s product happens to be fighting, Money comes before fairness and it makes me sick. The fighters in the company shouldn't be afraid to talk without fear of retaliation. Men inside octagon , mice outside of it except for a few like Aldo, Shaub , GSP,etc etc. They get away with the dont bite the hand that feeds you mentality, but todays heros become tomorrows enemies like Couture, Ortiz, Stitch, Wanderlei, etc etc long list. Sooner the better this act is implemented. The promoter is nothing without the fighters, and the consumers, and they only give a shit about the bottom line.

sports should never be run by private organizations. . this is how it should be: 40 MMA gyms around the world create an organization. They hire specialists for marketing and events. Each organizations gets a part of the profit, transparently calculated by number of fighters they have in the cage, number of fights and number of wins. The shares are announced at the beginning of the year. A part from that profit would go directly to the fighters. . This is how the biggest sport on the planet started.

Fighters should get payed more but all the best fighters need to fight under the one banner so we the fans get our money's worth. Wand is so bitter about him running from a test. He has turned into a fucking joke.

Excelente, cachorro louco. O assassino do machado tem que podar essa p'rra desse Dana White, que tá deixando o MMA quase como o WWE (nada contra o Brock Lesnar e o Batista). Ele tá querendo enterrar esse esporte. Já tava na hora de vocês se unirem e se rebelarem.

If its for the benefit of fighters than im all for it. But if this is a gathering of people to bring down ufc for vindictive reason, than its another story. Im not well informed when it comes to these matters, but as what was said on how a promotion cant choose who fight for the belt. I dont know how that would affect the UFC and its quality seeing how its going to be govern by an outside body. We all see how incompetent the judges have been.
