I received a letter from a collector saying Walmart claimed I had stolen some earbuds and I need to pay a settlement. I had no clue what they were talking about, thought it was a scam. I found the store and eventually founded the manager, whom I've never seen in my life. She looked me in my face and lied to me, saying she caught me stealing. I went to the police station, they said they didn't have any records of the incident. I later end up testifying against her in another case she was involved in, after I saw it on the news. She was claiming they had stolen something also.

I have met someone like Williams many years ago in my own youth. They did as little as possible whilst on shift but made bogus complaints about customers simply to make it look like they had been vigilant and on their toes the whole time. They were required to fill in a register on the hour every hour of anything that happened of note within the store but when you read the register back, in comparison to all the other shifts that were quiet and un-eventful, this guys seemed to have dramatic things going on all the time. It was after watching the CCTV footage of those so called incidents that management realised that it was all fantasy. Needless to say, the guy never made it to his third week.

You know I find it interesting that their loss prevention personnel are constantly harassing people who aren't stealing claiming that they are, yet every time I go to the store I find all kinds of boxes empty (the item taken out and stolen) so that tells me that they are targeting innocent people and not doing anything about the people who are actually stealing 🤦🙄

Loss prevention in general is a liability and they cost their company WAY more than the total value of assets that they recover. Walmart wasn't expecting the guy to win since unfortunately, most lawsuits against retailers are dismissed since the judges are in the retailer's pockets. WinCo Foods, Gelsons, and Nugget Markets are a few such examples. On the East Coast it's Bealls and Market Basket.

Years back my son and I were shopping Walmart, right after working his lawn care business, so we didn't look our best. An "associate" was following us pretending to be a shopper. It started to upset son, but I told him let me do something. Didn't want son buying into that trap. So I approached man said "were shopping same things today. What do you think about this or that"? He barely talked, acted like he was moving on. I did this every aisle we were in. As we were checking out, him still watching, I loudly said "ok security man following us for an hour, after check out we're going to customer service. Come on ,keep up " some around us laughed, he left mad or or embarrassed, not sure which. We returned everything, said no longer want or wrong product, whatever for reason. Went to Target across street, in/out no problems.

Walmart seems to be in the news quite often these days for hiring managers and other employees, who don't seem to mind targeting customers who have done nothing wrong. I personally find that Walmart stores have gone to seed in many other ways as well. I actually went to one of their super stores a couple of months back and all the checkouts were closed because, "Nobody showed up for work." I'm glad this man sued Walmart!

It's true the employees often look at you like they think you're going to steal something (which is understandable with all the theft they have to deal with lately) but still i get angry every time I go there because I am not a thief. Look at that employee he looks like a homeless person. 🤣

As with Target, you get rid of 3 of the 5 cashiers you have (26 registers that are never open, though) and funnel everyone through self check out. Then you wonder why there is inventory shrinkage. What did these places think was going to happen? People take compensation for being an unpaid employee for the time they are at checkout.

Home Depot in Oxon Hill have checkout counters by the exit doors. And security would stand right there seeing the cashier charging you for the items but would put a check mark on your receipt showing that they check your bag and found the items paid for. That went on for a good while but now when I go in I don't see the company doing that anymore.
