Alleged Cop Impersonator Gets Arrested by Georgia Police

Ойын-сауық

Videos show police pulling over a man whom they believe was allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer on July 20. The Acworth Police Department in Georgia said 33-year-old Jerardson Mackey was allegedly spotted flashing emergency lights in a retired police cruiser and was dressed in replica law enforcement garb with a badge. Mackey claimed he was an "off-duty HERO" with GDOT. Authorities say Mackey was cited for unlawful operation of an emergency vehicle and arrested two days later on a felony charge of impersonating a public officer.

Yes because the only people who use emergency lights are police officers right? Oh it turns out that's not the case. Firemen do it, EMTs do it, paramedics do it, and as it turns out funeral escort personnel do it. Charging this guy with impersonation is a bit ridiculous. His license to have the lights that he has in the car, he is not running red or blue lights facing forward, and he's not pulling people over. This is a lot to do about nothing.

Can’t be considered impersonating a police officer because of the “uniform” because he never once claimed to be an active duty police officer and denied any claim when questioned. Can’t be considered impersonating a police officer by flagging lights because the lights are not designated and exclusive colors used by police. All he did was improperly use his equipment and that’s exactly what he was ticketed for.

Some are legit users who are with their local fire departments who are responding to emergencies. Volunteer or paid firefighters. If it seems less legit that a volunteer firefighter would flash lights, consider they are hero’s who don’t get paid but still must attend training sessions and respond to save lives. But yeah people who are not really affiliated with emergency services who are faking it; they’re rubbish and need to get arrested.
