Love Your videos. Helps when to work on the car :-) One of my radiator fans don't work properly. Do you know if I have to chang both or just the faulty one? Maybe it's easier to change both?

Depending on the year, they can be changed individually. Here's a testing video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioB_x9igmJjAZpc.html

Thomas EXOVCDS Thanks a lot. The fan is working but makes much noise when running (it's the one on the left). The T4 is from 2003. It's winter now and very cold here in Sweden so I'm thinking that maybe I dont need both fans :-)

For that year, you probably have to remove them together: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6Spx9pyYNuZn5s.html

Great video but what I want to know is why the radiator fans don't work after the engine is switched off? Thnals

Kenny Effah Depending on the system, the fans only come on if the radiator fan switch is hot. You can walk away from the van and the switch will get hot (as the heat from the engine makes its way to the switch) or the switch will not get warm and the fans do not come on. Checking a wiring diagram that applies to your engine should answer the question better.

is a valve being stuck open a common issue for 2.5l gas engines? also, after you revved the engine, was that you turning something before checking for airflow?

Zanas Tumasonis 2:08 I rev the engine, can't remember what I did with my hand at the combi valve shortly after. They can stick open or closed... usually closed.

Just fixed a new fuse to my 1998 t4 transporter van . Went for a drive a week later stopped off at mates house for 2 hours got back to van and fans were still running and drained the battery , cant find the problem any ideas what it could be ? Regards Daron Australia

Daron Elliott Does the vehicle have AC? After charging the battery, do the fans still stay on? If yes, disconnect the brown coolant temperature sensor plug that is in the upper radiator hose (between the coolant flange at the cylinder head and the radiator). If the fans stop, then the temperature sensor is bad. 2.5l engine?

On my 1994 T4 only one fan works at full speed, both fuses are OK, and even if I switch the power lines between the fans the same fan won't work at full speed, I check it by putting a wire into the fan speed plug tht clips into the rad sensor? Any ideas? Thanks

Above the driver side headlight are a bunch of relays... I believe the 111 relays are high speed. swap them around and see what happens. If the other motor now works, replace 1 or both relays.

Sorry... I read your message wrong. Both fans only have 2 wires attached to them... a power and a ground. The power is controlled by either a pair of relays or a fan control module (whichever you have). If swapping the 2 wires between the fans did not do anything (dead fan is still dead) then that fan "should be" dead, but if you have low speed on both, then the fan can't be dead. Check the relays / fan module as best you can.

Hey mate nice vid. Neither of my fans are working unless i connect them directly to the battery. The fuses are fine and there is current at the fuses and at the temperature unit in the radiator. I swapped said temp unit for another second hand, but the fans are still not working. Just wondering what it might be?

@@brownhornetseventhre One of your resistor packs (for low speed) is probably burnt out... that's why one of the fans does not work on low speed. The resistor packs are under the driver side headlight assembly (remove bottom grill / cover). Swap the resistor packs and do the same test. If the fans now work opposite of what they dd, then that one resistor pack is bad. If the same thing still happens, then the relay for low speed / or wiring for that radiator fan is bad. If the one working fan (low speed) does not come on when the engine is at idle... and the temperature needle goes past 3/4 towards overheating, then the thermostat is probably bad and that's why the fans are not coming on (radiator is not getting hot to trigger the fans).
