He is a truly amazing man. I used to work in a hotel and unexpectantly John had to spend the night with us. He rang down to find out where he could iron a shirt. After talking for a few moments I told him that one of our receptionists was going to be devastated to have missed him as she ADORED him and that she would have happily iron every piece of clothing he owned. He asked me if I could call her for him. I called and got her Dad and told him that when I told her who was calling she would think I was joking so he had to reassure her it was true. When she came on the line I said her name and told her that I wanted to introduce her to her caller John Farnham, and before I went off line, I heard him say to her "So ........ I hear you take in ironing" HE TALKED WITH HER FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. WHAT A GENTLEMAN AND STAR HE IS!!!!!!

In John's darkest hour in the late 70s, the once 'straight to stardom' confident 60s teenage superstar was now an adult relegated to singing in small clubs and pubs often to small polite audiences, many of whom would talk while he sang, oblivious to his genius. But like a bright coloured butterfly, he re-invented himself in his middle-age to a new generation with new music and vitality. The "young" John was back bigger and better than ever. The low times humbled him, but his voice and humour remained unscared. What emerged was the greatest entertainer of our times.

Just discovered your channel Charlie. Loving what your genuine love of the artists and the music. As a proud 61 year old Australian that has adored John Farnham since the 1960’s, he is a truly humble, funny, authentic, and inspiring human being. There has never ever been a single controversy about him. He is without question, THE greatest male singer of all time. I’ve had the honour of seeing him in concert only twice. You’re right, he makes you feel like he’s getting more joy from performing for just you than you get from him. I’ve never experienced that from any other artist. He’s an incredible human being.

You talk about John's lack of self indulgence, and that he sings for everyone else. I think this is both beautiful and very true. Case in point: he sang BACK UP VOCALS on a track for a comedian who goes by "The Twelfth Man". Given you're British, I think you've a good chance of appreciating the song "Marvellous" (particularly if you like, or at least understand, cricket). Bonus vocal on the track is fricken Jimmy Barnes.

One of the great things about Christmas in the middle of summer is carols by candlelight concerts, the two big ones in Melbourne and Sydney and countless smaller ones in parks all around the country.

John loves singing to and for YOU. He makes each song he sings a gift personally for you. PS have you thought of reacting to Stan Walker's 'I Am' yet? It is amazing

You’re spot on about everything you’ve said about John, he’s just there for the love. The greatest male vocalist of all time. Thanks for supporting our John.

John makes every member of the audience believe he's singing just for them. I don't think you can say that about anyone else. Even Freddie, brilliant as he was, sang to the entire crowd at once. John somehow manages to achieve a personal connection that others just can't.

I accidentally ran across your channel, Charlie, and I am in love with you! I watched your review of Queen and Adam Lambert, and it was so special to see a man who can show true emotion! I instantly subscribed! Then I watched your John Farnham song "You'll Never Walk Alone", and that blew me away as well! Two of my favorite singers in a row, thank you for your genuine emotional reaction!!! By the way, are you married, LOL? Your new biggest fan, Sue

Both beautiful songs. Thanks, Charlie. There's lots of versions of You'll never walk alone that I like. Gerry & the Pacemakers would have been the first I heard. This one is awesome. I agree that he's so authentic & we love him for it. There's also a version sung by Jimmy Barnes and his son David Campbell, also at Carols. Its bloody brilliant & shows their wonderful relationship. And one when Liverpool FC came to Australia to play a friendly. The whole crowd are singing it both LFC & Aussie supporters. I'ts amazing. ❤❤

John's been up & down more times than a pair of knickers in a whore house. He knows people can be fickle jumping on & off the bandwagon over the years, thats why he NEVER takes anything for granted, there is no ego with this man, that for someone with his immense talent is amazing, you see singers come & go, but there is ego when they're up, & tantrums when they're down. But this man is everything you spoke so kindly of. His gigs are one big party for his band & fans alike, his humour, well if he ever gave up singing he could be a comedian easily, it just flows out of him too! He combines the both on stage, singing is his great love, & he has always been ours, along with Lindsey, Vanneta & Lisa, who are amazing too, all beautiful singers in their own right, yet chose to stay with John & compliment his talent with their own. I can only imagine what all these guys got up to on the road over the years, what a hoot that would be in itself. I love to watch everyones reactions to Johns incredible talent. He did venture overseas to check it out but no-one showed any interest in his talent, & when he rode his next wave & everyone came clammering, he stayed here where he's always been so dearly loved & supported. Again, very few would turn down the world stage in favour of his own backyard. I often get caught up in these vids of people discovering him & am so happy for the word to spread & the world to know him. John deserves every spark of recognition he gets for his crazy arse voice & range. We've been blessed in this Country to have him to ourselves all these years, & I thank his family for sharing him with us all too. I do hope we get to hear John sing again one day, I'd be grateful just for him to be in this world making his family happy. But what a gift God gave John & he never kept it to himself, he always shared it with us & for us through bushfires & floods. It would be such a tragedy to take away "his" one greatest love (apart from Jilly of course). He was still belting it out for us in his 70s believe it or not, first (to offer his still amazing talent, to raise money for bushfire victims here) when he was diagnosed with cancer. That's when I came to the abrupt realisation the we could lose our most precious gift of all. I really dont want to exist in a world without John Farnham in it, what a sad place it would be. But to his credit, he's back on hos feet & giving his family cheek as always. God bless you John, you deserve it. ❤❤❤
