He didn’t wear shoes because any tiniest noise could be picked up by the microphone. They do this for professional recordings. Some people wear socks since that might be even quieter than barefooted.

the young man is incredibly sympathetic and without many words, an artist on this instrument.

Christian, you have played this like the consummate professional that you are... the Largo was especially moving... In 50 years of life I have never heard it played better.

Old rocker here but always loved this piece, and this prodigy's interpretation (including in my view perfect tempo and cheeky little embellishments here and there) is wonderful. I was in tears pretty much from the beginning.

the ornamentation he adds is amazing.. perfect and effortless execution..

How wonderful to see a child perform by this way of creativity. There is no beginning and no end for creativity.

At times it looks like he’s on the verge of tears. Now that is some emotional connection to the music there. 💯

Is it just me, or it sounds like E-flat major for this movement? Again, bravo Christian! The intonation is incredible, not even one note is off to my ears. As a pianist under the equal temperament, we can never achieve a true major third (off by a lot) or the perfect fifth. But you definitely did, and I believe it's because of your raw talent and hard work. Lastly, maybe a dumb question, why did you chooes not to do vibrato on the last note?

My question was the opposite, was does he use vibrato on the so many notes. My understanding is that vibrato was not used as much in the Baroque era, it started being used much later and much heavier. I prefer the pure sound of very little in baroque music, sounds more tasteful to me when used on mainly long notes.

@@jwallah346 He's not playing in the Baroque manner, and doesn't pretend to. He's using a modern bow and a chin rest. There are several "authentic instrument" performances, but his interpretation is brilliant.
