It's interesting comparing this video to Kuga's Travel and his magical wander through the snow covered Ghibli town set to soft piano music. Whereas here we have the real experience of getting there; children crying on the train, standing in the cold waiting for the next bus, finishing the journey in essentially somebody's van. It reminds you that travel isn't always glamorous or idealized. But the destination is so worth the experience.

After watching, I felt depressed. Such a beautiful plc.. best is to stay over for 2 nights, if budget permits. Otherwise, it feels like no food, no plc to sit , food sold out, no where to hang out.. A pitiful state esp when snow is heavy.

I've lived in Japan for 19 years now and traveled to many places. Some places like this (Gero) is that you go there and then there is nothing to do. Japanese like the travel and then just relax in the hot spring. Their work is usually very stressful and so when they travel they just want to some place beautiful....and then simply relax. Sorry, but to me that is very boring. (To make my Gero trip exciting we decided to cross on the railroad bridge just after a train had gone through. About half way across we heard another train whistle. Made it across with a couple of minutes to spare but sure added more excitement...and, yeah, never try doing that!) I like hiking and have found some really good places to go for that. (Nagano, Kurobe, 5 Color Lakes in Fukushima just to name a few).

Wow, what a beautiful place, especially at night! Doesn't seem like an ideal place to visit in winter unless you have a hotel room or at least some waterproof clothes and shoes! I guess it might be doable if you are in the area the day before so you can get to the village early in the day before everything sells out. It's not great you had so many setbacks, but the footage you got seemed to be worth it! Plus that hot chocolate seemed delicious (and it's a drink, like coffee but just chocolate instead of coffee beans, so it should be liquidy) so it's not a total loss. Thanks for filming!

Great video, and yes another humor text inside. I think I have watched Ginzan Onsen Two times today, and yes the first one already mentioned in last minute.

This channel comes in handy while learning about the transport culture of Japan. Ginzan Onsen is really a good tourist space and it seems soothing in winter. Please let us know about the stay option we have in the town. The place is on the bucket list.
