Visiting KOH LARN, Thailand - Mystery Island near Pattaya! ประเทศไทย
Hi everyone! This is episode six of my Thailand series. In this video, I visit the small island of Koh Larn in the Gulf of Thailand, situated about 8 kilometres from Pattaya. The Thai Islands are world-class and well-known, and no visit to Thailand is complete without visiting at least one of the islands. Koh Larn, though, is perhaps one of the lesser-known ones.
The vlog starts with me walking towards Pattaya Pier and explaining the two main options travelling to Koh Larn. In short, there is a faster option and a slower option. The faster option is the speedboat that costs 150 Baht each way and the slower option is the bigger ferry boat that costs 30 Baht each way. I decide to take the slower option towards the main town on Koh Larn, namely Na Baan (or Naban).
Upon arrival at Na Baan Pier, I form some immediate first impressions of the island. I decide to walk around the town first and buy a soft drink from a supermarket. After this, I visit a local temple (or wat) and browse various street stalls and small market places.
I decide to keep my options open for getting to the beach, and first try to walk towards it. Along the way, I get a better impression of life on the island and some of the challenges people face. I also realise that tourism is central to the economy of the island.
After realising that walking to the beach is not the best strategy, I take a local tuk-tuk bakkie to Tawaen (or Ta Waen) beach. Now it is time to relax and enjoy the magic of Thailand! I also walk along a beach path towards a smaller, secluded beach and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Finally, I take a ferry back to Pattaya on the mainland.

Much better than Pattaya, Sheila! I find it fascinating to see how people in different areas go about their daily lives. And thank you for all your support over such a long time - I finally reached 5K subscribers and I am over the moon.
