    I think MacIntosh/Stereotech was similar to the relationship between Marantz (high end) and Superscope (consumer grade). Had to capture some of the non-‘audiophile’ market at the time.

    I like this over the McIntosh 1900 due to the fact that it has AUX inputs instead of just Tape inputs. I know tape inputs can be used as aux inputs but still. I'd love to have one of these but the prices have really jumped.

    I'm not sure the price is justified BUT it is a nice receiver.

    I find the Marantz looked quite a bit better. I owned another beauty: The Yamaha CR-2020.

    I think Marantz/McIntosh is a more fair comparison…Stereotech/Superscope (budget McIntosh/Marantz) are more in line with what the manufacturers were trying to do. I had a thing for Yamaha a while back. Had a Yamaha CA 610II that I loved and used for quite a while.
