Thank you. We do have reasonable success when growing things, most of the time. Probably because we were both raised in households where the summer garden was a big part of life every year.

Paul you're a man after my own heart!!! I've absolutely LOVED gardening since I was about 7 years young!!! I enjoyed every second of what you've done in your Victory Garden~!~ Sonny.

Wow! Your gardens are amazing! And you have such beautiful land! I was just thinking of you and Bev last week, checked your channel and FB page didn’t see anything was hoping everything was alright. It’s so good to hear from you both. My husband and I planted our second garden this year. It’s been better than last years and some things didn’t do to well but it’s not bad. I have been battling weeds when I can due to lack of physical capability and it’s SO hot here in SC! We are in the 90s with heat index upwards of 105 so the weeds have been winning but not too badly. I hope to see you both again soon!!

Thanks Robyn! Saw your last video about, well, taking a break should be say. Good for you. Thanks so much for the kindness about our garden. We have worked very hard on it, so aside from its practicality, it is something of a point of pride I suppose. The heat has been bad here as well, though not quite what you've had there. We get up and work very early in the morning, and then again in the evening to avoid the heat of the midday. Enjoying it, and we have both lost a decent amount of weight doing it.

Thank you Evan! Good to hear from you! We have worked very hard on the garden, and it has been fun. This is a very different environment from the urban environment we were at. We are doing well.

My goodness look at that black soil and those happy plants. Your salads are going to be amazing. So happy to see that you and Bev are doing such good craft. What a journey you and Bev have documented over the years. Stay healthy and best of luck in these trying times. I want to go make some vinaigrette and invite myself over.

That's very sweet. We have always enjoyed growing a garden when it was possible. It gives back on so many levels, the food, the exercise, and the happiness. We do have some nice soil here. That helps! Thanks.

@@Realunitedstates Being an AZ man the entire Great Lakes region stands out as the most amazing geography. The black soil, the lakes, the agriculture, all the roads, the rail roads ..... Why it's not the richest place in North America anymore escapes me.

Yeah, I think of our garden as a micro farm, and it is large enough, I am told, to work as a viable "market garden". I am intending to press even more of the property into service next year.

We have been working on the garden so hard that there has been little time for anything else. That is the nature of the summer months here. I'm so happy to see you and Bev are fine. Me too. Your garden looks fantastic! I can't figure out how to grow a garden here in Texas. the Sun cooks everything.

Hay Mary, glad to hear you are well. Thank you for the kind words about the garden. We have worked very hard on it. Not sure what to tell you about growing things in Texas. Our climate is so terribly far removed from yours. Last time I was in Texas it was a January. I was there is August once, but Lyndon Johnson was president at the time. :-)

@@Realunitedstates I know people grow gardens here in Texas, but living in Michigan till I was 67, I am struggling with the different soil and climate. I've tried to grow tomato's every Summer, but no luck yet. It's too hot and the tomato's get blossoms, but they don't seem to set so I get no fruit. I've given up on everything else. I haven't had a good tomato since I moved here. I'm so homesick for Michigan, but at 72 I don't see myself moving cross country again. Besides my daughter and grandkids are here.....that's why I came. LOL

@@mkbuser I started gardening in 2010. in 2009 I caught sepsis and with this, it took out all my strength so bad just to brush my teeth because found it so hard. I'm in a wheelchair because I also have polio. With sepsis, I also caught Osteomyelitis which is an infection in the bones. this one was the worst one since the pain because the pain was so bad, I just wanted to die. My son moved back home to take care of me. and my daughter would come and bring the baby and do whatever she could, My son started to buy seeds and buy me plants and would plant together. I had a problem with the plants. A friend made me a raised bed as a gift, my mom and my uncles put the fence so the chickens but hurricane maria and destroyed but I was not going to quit. Today things that didn't have luck like garlic, culantro red cherries, cucumbers, and more. This year is growing so much this in my balcony, in front of my balcony I have 2 canisters and on there I also have guanabana, In all of this, I learned that what a plant needs. Some love water and others don't like to much water. Some love lots of sun but others don't. some of them like certain places and others don't and if I don't have organic nutrients, I use the leftover coffee not the ground, the liquid adds water. grind eggshells, compost is very easy to do. I have one in my balcony. I only put leaves and branches and the one outside I put it the outside house. Don't give up.

Awesome. Only you could see how to grow the plants. Thing is getting expensive 😫 we need to grow our own food for 2 reasons 1 the food we don't use no pesticides and the food is organic. God bless you and the family 👪. Say hi to to your wife.

The garden looks great! Looking forward to seeing more as the season progresses. You're cucumber tunnel will be great come harvest time. Have you ever watched an old 70s british series called the good life? It starred Richard Briers, Penelope Keith, Felicity Kendall and Paul Eddington. It was co-created by Bob Larbey who made so many of the better known Britcoms we get over here and about a couple who start urban farming (and their less than pleased neighbours and friends). I was thinking about it (in a good way) as you were walking around your garden and think you may enjoy it if you have the chance to watch it. Its quite funny and I think you might get some extra specific laughs out of it given what you are spending your days doing :) The garden really does lool incredible- lots of hard work but you must be very happy with it as well :)

Hey Annie! Thank you so much. I think this is the best our garden has EVER looked, and we have high expectations it will look even better next year. No, I am not familiar with the show you mentioned, but it sounds interesting. We don't actually live in an urban environment. While we do have sort of a small neighborhood of sorts, we actually live in the country about four miles out of town. As for the garden being a lot of hard work, yes, absolutely yes, but that is also the reason I have lost ten pounds in the last four months! :-)

@@Realunitedstates it's not really urban farming as you see discussed today on the show (and wasn't thinking you were in a city or anything- the comparison was the amount of time and effort you both are putting in & the rows and rows of produce!) . I just couldn't think what to call it earlier and settled on that, farming on a non farm would have been better I guess. They were in 70s british suburbia on the show and although not as much space as you- a lot of space for the UK. It was more the non farm farming and the escapades that entailed (their goal was self sufficiency on the show which led to the most extreme situations) but it was a light show overall and with 3 of the UKs best comic actors... it doesn't disappoint-unless you are sick of thinking about the garden by the end of the day, in which case it may be one to save for winter when you're dreaming of gardening again! :)

I understand. Our "micro farm" if you will started off with the intent of "market gardening". In fact we have, and probably still are, considering that this year if we get sufficient amounts to sell. It's just been a little tough bringing the place back when it has been over-grown and left to its own devices for the last five years. When we got home a year ago, the weeds in the back yard were taller than Bev, literally!
