Ойын-сауық

We are well, and despite the quarantine we are making pans for our garden, or perhaps this year "Victory Garden."

I have such great memories of my moms and grandmas large garden when I was a kid. Tilling, planting, weeding and harvesting. Then the freezing and canning. To me it was all just normal everyday stuff. Now I realize just how special it was.

Absolutely, it was always just part of the annual cycle of life. Bev and I are still avid caners and have only missed gardening due to location over the last few years. Hopefully it will be an example for others.

Thank you so much! It seemed like a good time to start posting videos again, even if they are simple vlogs, just to let everyone know how we are and what we are doing during this time. Hope you and your are safe and well.

Hi Paul, So glad to hear you and Beverly are well. I am too, here in Frisco TX. Missing Michigan a lot, so it's good to see your videos from there. I can't figure out how to grow a garden here in Frisco, it's too hot and the soil is terrible, all clay. Thinking about Winter in Michigan is the only thing that keeps me here. Hope you have a great garden, can't wait to see what you harvest.

Hey Mary, thank you! We've never been into Frisco, but about a decade ago I was in the nearby Denison, TX, the birthplace of Dwight Eisenhower. Passed just east of Frisco on US 75 on my way to and through Dallas. Nice part of the country. So yes, we are looking forward to having a garden again after being away for a while, and I think it will make us feel good/better no matter how it turns out.

We were just talking about our garden a little bit ago. The ground here is still a little too frozen. We still have quit a bit of snow and ice. But we're totally ready when our ground is. We have 80 acres. More than half is wooded. We have blueberries and raspberries, but I plan to increase those and add blackberries for fun. I can't wait!

Wow! I didn't realize your place was that big! That is fantastic! I do understand that the frost comes out of the ground much later there, and here we had an exceptionally mild winter. It seems like the ground is thawed already, which is weeks ahead of normal. It is exciting to be actually planing for Spring!

Big ancient farm house that needs tons of work, but a pretty awesome parcel of land. We have a horse and four dogs the size of horses. Hoping to get everything done and ready for chickens and goats this spring. Maybe some other critters too. I want a big garden, but my health issues have taken away my ability to do a big one. Winter wasn't too bad here either, but it's not quite springy enough to till. Soon though. I'm excited.

Well, in all honesty, growing things is a learned talent, not an inherent one. So, you still could. Thanks so much for the kind words, and we hope you are doing well and staying safe as well.

That garden is huge! I thought ours was quite big for a UK garden but nothing like that. Looking on Google maps, Michigan looks pretty rural, lots of smaller towns, is that right? We're on our first week of lock down here and only supposed to go out once a week for food which is impossible with a family. I went out earlier on in the week and it took ages as only so many people are allowed in the supermarket at any one time and stay 6ft apart. Better than spreading anything around though. It's been a bit mad here as I work for the NHS (Healthcare) so it's been non-stop :-( Glad you're both well. Stay safe all.

Well, yes and no, there are large cities in Michigan, not the least of which is Detroit, but on the other hand there is a LOT of rural area and agriculture is one of our largest industries. Not THE largest, but certainly ONE OF the largest. I would say, and this is only my opinion, that the average home garden in these parts of between 1000 to 2000 square feet, so yes our garden is exceptionally large, for no particular reason other than we like growing stuff.

Well that's very nice. We are staying isolated to the extent possible, and thus far remain in good health and safe. Seems like there are always lots of things to keep us occupied.

If you mean the Big Water, like Lake Michigan, then about an hour drive. If you mean any body of water, we are only about a mile away from the Muskegon River.
