I bought an '87 700 secondhand from the original owner. Story was that he had lent his bike for the shoot as it was the first one shipped and available in the area. While the bike is long gone, I still have the pillion seat cover, signed by Fast Freddie.

The 86 White 700 was and will always be the most beautiful (aesthetically) bike ever made. It had 'gold' cast engine casing, special faring bolts, gold lettering, and white when bikes were never white. I loved people looking at the 140 (or was it 160) MPH speedo and saying OMG!

@fastdruid- The 750 says 750 below the VFR on the lowers. The 700 just says VFR. So the bike shown is a 750 (see 0:42). Clocks were different between F and F2 versions. In the US there were no 750F2; if you see the square F2 clocks (see 2:35) on a US bike, it's a 700. This is a non-US 750F2. AFAIK all 87s were F2. In 86 they made both F and F2. At least in the US. I have owned an 86 750F and an 87 700F2. I still have the 87, but now it has a 750. Also had a 92.

Where on Earth did you get this. It's wonderful. Too bad the technology for cameras was not what it is today. Fast Freddie, I love it.

@vettper There are at least two bikes and as its in the US despite the title who knows if it was a 750 or the 700 version (plus I don't know if the clocks are different). As streethassled says they were '87 season leathers probably shot in '87.

@DocPhotop When he ride the 2st racers, always uses the rear brake. But I do not know when he ride a 4st racers . However, VFR750F if equipped with a back torque limiter, I guess he is supposed to use the rear brake.

@DocPhotop Laguna Seca raceway. Obvious from the corkscrew! I suspect this is original or the longer version of the "1986 VFR intercepter" promo. No back torque limiter on the VFR750F RC24. While there are (at least) two VFR's here, a race bike (No: 10 @1.03 and 3.20) and (at least) one road bike and while the race bike probably did have a back torque limiter the footage shows indicators so its not the race bike. Also looks like the fairing was taken off to get the rear brake footage!

I remember watching the race in which he won the 500cc and 1000cc class. I seem to remember he also won the 250 cc class earlier that day. That I believe was 85. Yeah, he didn't know what he was doing back then.

Spencer uses rear brake because 1981's honda 500 gp needs to work in a high revolution range, and he tried to prevent the engine revolutions went down keeping the throttle opened and controling the slide with the rear brake.

@critchley3819 They have a thick rubber pad on their knee, they do that to judge their lean angle! Kenny Roberts started this in the mid 1970's I believe!

@landsurfer6 - Maybe I should have been more specific. He is the pro, and we're just mortals! We all know the pro racers need to to use the rear brake, esp. when 2-stroke 500 GP was around. He's always stressed to the students who attended his school not to use "cut it off and throw it away". Those students, and all of us admirers are mortals! Regardless, awesome video. Where is that track? Anyhow, I need to look up this rear brake torque limiter...

It's a '87 700, you can tell by the dash, '86 750 had individual round instruments and the speedo could be quickly removed.
