Thank you so much Robot and Scott for your detailed guidance! My vespa was leaking oil and I decided to replace all the top end gaskets, and I was overjoyed when I cranked the engine today and it started like nothing. I watched all three of these videos and followed them like a bible. I never would have had the confidence or knowledge to attempt this without the detail of these videos. But it was an awesome experience to be able to take apart and work on complicated machinery.

Very well done, Robot. I watched all three videos. Not because I believe I will ever try such a project, but because I like to have at least a working knowledge of the workings of the engine. I have an eight year old GTV300 that is still going strong. Your videos have helped me maintain my scooter and I can't say enough about how much you have helped me. I only wish we had someone of your expertise here in SE US just in case the need should arise. Again, thanks to you and ScooterWest.

Just Awesome !! Robot... Thank you very much. Now those factory tools, have to make generic ones so we could undertake something like this. I'd like to know what torque wrench you use and why you prefer it? Also when you get a chance maybe you can do a video on a basic socket/tool set every Vespa rider should carry to tackle things like belt/roller replacement etc. I have enjoyed all the videos you and Vespa Motorsports has shared and have benefitted from the parts that i have had shipped to me. Thanks for sharing and maybe others will be inspired to share like you...

Hi Robot, thank you for your learning, really appreciate it. I'm doing all my DIY work on my 300 GTS thanks to your videos. Just 1 question : i've changed the cylinder, piston and cylinder head of my 300 GTS 2010. The cylinder and piston are brand new. I'm not sure of the position of the piston rings. I have the Haynes manual, and they to not advocate the same position for the piston rings as you do on your video. I've been mounting 2 times the piston/cylinder with 2 different position for the rings. Everything is torqued with a torque wrench. (follow the Haynes sequence, 7nm, 10nm, 270 in cross for the Cylinder head bolts. Valve adjustment OK (In: 0,10mm / Out 0,15mm), base gasket 0,4mm (the thinner). The spark plug is black but not oiled. I guess this is due to my injector, maybe too rich. Which is an old injector i just bought recently. 1st time i started the scooter i had no compression, engine was runing very low. 2nd time (now) i have more compression (100psi), the engine goes to 20km/h max. Put some oil inside the spark plug hole, testing with a compression meter and the compression came to 150psi. So there is a problem in my piston/cylinder. Which one ? Are my piston rings gap misplaced ? And, not sure to understand, but the oil scrapper ring gap should be at 12' oclock, the middle one at 4' oclock and the upper one at 8' oclock is that right ? Thanks for your help ! Thibaut

Jeff (and team at vespa motorsport), i have one question. I am in project of rebuilding piaggio beverly 200 (leader engine), i've skimmed about 0,10 mm off the cylinder head due to low spot near the one of the coolant passages and i am wondering which base gasket thickness to use, current gasket is 0,6 mm. Should i stay with 0,6 mm, or go higher and use 0,8 mm? Will the 0,2 mm. difference have big impact on compression ratio?
