Agreed. The best way to make progress is to carve out a new space that you make marketable. The best example is the UFC. They trained the women fighters, some of them, to appear to have larger than life adversarial attitudes that drum up interest in the female fights. There should be leagues that are more loose with the boundaries that trans men, upper level women, and trans women can compete in and market it with interesting drama and political tension. And keep the sanctity of women’s sports alone. Sports isn’t national law, it’s an invention that is marketed to get people to pay. The free market can do amazing things for equality. So create a unique show that combines the intrigue of cross gendered tensions. Interesting back stories. And make it marketable to the left and women who aren’t as into sports.. and pull some of the attention and dollars away from the other institutions. That’s how you can win the respect and not turn it into a tyranny of the minority

Yes, Veronica claims to be a "real woman", so she should be allowed to compete in women's sports. But she is not a "real woman. She is a "trans-woman," so at a minimum, she has a man's skeleton. Competing against cis-women is so blatantly unfair, I can't believe she expects nobody to object. If she doesn't want to compete against men, then why not compete against other trans-women? As Noah said, in boxing they have many divisions, all based on weight, so why not add two more categories to all sports, namely the categories of trans-women and trans-men?

Thank you. I have been feeling lost in this debate because I really want to help people struggling with gender dysphoria feel less isolated, but also cannot look away from the physical advantage male puberty bestows in the arena or sports, women's shelters and other safe spaces. BTW, its not easy being a cis woman at this time....the extreme right took away our right to safe motherhood, and the far left is trying to take away safe spaces by negating our very biology. 🙄. Voices like yours give me hope.

Let Trans women compete against other trans women. Normally do not see a women transition to man and compete against man, because they will not have an advantage.

It's not the argument I would use. She's arguably more female than male given her hormone levels, body fat distribution, breast development, and so on.

It’s not trans phobic to say that trans women are not actually women. They are human they can identify whatever way that they want to. They are deserving of respect and kindness. But if they were actually women that they wouldn’t need a surgery to make them a woman. They wouldn’t need drugs. The biggest hindrance in this particular topic is that the general perception of athletics is heavily biased through extremely surface level observations. The conversation pretty much ends with "Men and women are different!" without exploring any of the nuances of differing athletic body types, lack of data on trans women performance vs. women performance, over emphasis of physical characteristics that may or may not effect performative outcomes, lack of context, cherry picking hyper specific outcomes while ignoring more general outcomes, etc. There is a huge misunderstanding about athletic performance that is projected onto this topic by the general (non-athlete) population and it severely corrodes any productive back and forth regarding sensible solutions.

But if you’re a scientist or engineer, you’re probably also familiar with bounding a problem from a larger view before you start splitting hairs and get lost in the weeds. So on that note, if you take a professional men’s team in almost any sport, and put them against a professional women’s team of that same sport, and you are required to bet your house on it, who are you betting on? There are few sports where women have the same maximum potential as men. Anything requiring unassisted peak strength or speed is going to the men. It’s not because of phobias or misogyny. It’s because of our DNA and the fundamental differences in how men and women evolved.

Veronica really exercises her male privilege, by telling women they just need to change up their workout regimen. Veronica if you see this you're not a real woman.

If someone very explicitly, personally asks you to not call them cis, then yes it is reasonable to expect them to respect that, but as cisgender is the current medical terminology, it seems unreasonable to expect someone to refrain from calling you as such without specific request. And not only is it the acceptable medical nomenclature, but many cisgender people refer to themselves as such - I certainly do. Not is it an instance of reclaimed intragroup language, like certain slurs.

@8:18 the entitlement coming out of this person is incredible. Just gonna loop it back to "anyone who disagrees with me doesn't accept trans people." These people are toddlers. Noah is a coward for not standing up to these people like he would to someone on the to right. Every point he makes is designed to not offend.

Oh! Yeah I accept myself actually. I accept that I was born a certain gender, have those chromosomes, and fit into that box for awhile. But I can also acknowledge the fact that I was not happy, and now I am much more so. I know what I was born as but I'm happier where I am :] you can call me whatever gender you please idc

Amen! I love how their argument is always. “Why is gender such a big deal to you, it doesn’t even matter” Well if it doesn’t matter, why are you trying to change yours?

Call me transphobic If you may, but I didn't find her arguments compelling enough. Not too many of them landed on solid ground. But that's just me. My sincere and unbiased opinion.

It's all cool to have a trans sport competition, just don't authorize trans "male" athletes to compete in fight sports like MMA with the women's, because it already happened and it's disgusting. So it's cool if it happens in basketball and stuff but not in dangerous sports please 🙏
