I was a tomboy when I was a kid, I am still actually. And there was this time, one of my teacher tried so much to convince me I was a boy, they would take me out of the class and pass hours with me, telling me the stuff I like are boy stuff, everything I do was a boy. I kept on telling them that I liked dresses, I like having long hair, I couldn’t wait to be a mom. Still, the teacher would go on and on and on. I went in depression, almost killed myself at the age of 10, because someone was telling me I wasn’t who I thought I was…. We went to court and won, everything is fine now. I’m a proud woman

These are hard issues and good discussions, because society is collectively trying to identify the boundaries of LGBTQ++ as a whole. And you are simply not recognizing that there is an actual group that needs changes to the societal structure. Hundreds of years ago when abolishment of slavery was raised, people thought it was an insane idea too. And you are being those people now. Note: I personally disagree with quite a fair bit of what the LGBT proponents are raising, but I feel that people really should not brush off these discussions as 'insane' like you do.

I grew up with five brothers. I was a total tomboy. When I hit puberty, I absolutely loathed my body, and I was so angry I was a girl, and not a boy. I’m a gay male. Between the ages of about 8 and 12 I was quite effeminate. I had no interest in sports, I preferred the company of girls and didn’t like the outside. I used to like wearing mascara and painting my finger nails until I got told off for it. Fast forward twenty years and I’m an engineering officer in the RAF. I’m not a crossdresser, a drag queen or feminine at all now. It wasn’t beaten out of me, I just grew up. God forbid what would have happened to me if I was born 2010 and acted like that.

Thank you Piers for standing up for “tomboys.” I know for sure if given the option in childhood, I probably would’ve wanted to transition due to being told that my interests were confusing and uncomfortable to others. Thankfully I grew up and learned to be comfortable with who I am. It’s painful to see the homophobia hidden within the argument. It’s also astonishing to realize the contradiction in the conversations surrounding gender from those who call themselves “trans activists.” We need more people to stand up for gender fluidity- who are supporting of that fluidity to not confuse biological differences. To push a child towards transitioning is to further convince that child that something is wrong with them- and that is heartbreaking.

i was a tomboy too as a kid. But as a grown up, Im happy being a woman. Confusing kids is so dangerous and I'm glad I didnt grow up with such people around me to influence my perception of identity.

My wife was a total tomboy and grew up on a ranch and tough and poor. If today's groomers had gotten hold of her, she would have cut out her female parts, been given testosterone, and we would NEVER have even met.

To buy into this stuff you have to selectively suspend your disbelief. I'm just like you. I'm a woman, a mom, and a tomboy. If I was a teen today a psychiatrist would tell me that I'm a male in a female's body. I've always been stubborn and not weak-minded. I never needed to follow the crowd. Social media has children not wanting to live. The trans community claims that children won't want to live. If your child is claiming to harm themselves or others you would take them to a therapist or psychiatrist. They need group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy to get to the root of the problem. If they're depressed and get the surgery they'll still be depressed because there is more going on. If you feel trapped in the wrong body wait until you're 18. It's like a 16-year-old wanting to get married and parents say to wait until you're 18. You say you're in love. Then why rush to marry? If it's love it will be there 2 years from now. Otherwise, it's infatuation. Making a permanent decision about what may be phase young people need to slow down. Parents need to remember what it was like to be young and how they aren't the same person today as back then.

I'm a 24 and a tomboy (always have been). In high school, I was brainwashed into believing that i wasn't actually a girl because I was more masculine than all of my female peers. Today, I'm engaged to my fiancé, and if I'm blessed to be, I want to be a mother. I know with absolutely certainty that if I didn't wake up when I did, I would have definitely been butchered and mutilated beyond belief. This ideology is harmful and useless.

Thing is. I don't give a damn what other people think of me and I carry myself according to that concept. If I'm in a convo, nothing is off limits. U don't like me, we don't have to be friends. Now don't get me wrong I honestly am a nice guy long as people treat me with respect and I'll in kind do the same. But I'll speak my mind because what I say is who I am. That's why people need to watch what they say. There's always some semblance of truth behind what people say, even if a little. Even if most of what we say when we're highly emotional is untrue, there's always a little truth behind what we say to reiterate the point.

I remember a few years back when a woman who was (I think) the head of the naacp claimed she identified as black. Her life now is a struggle and she has trouble finding people who will employ her.
