Thanks so much for the great update. I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one who read the update and thought it was a bunch of gibberish and had no idea what they were trying to communicate other than they have some real issues!

DDL is doing a fair job. I can only imagine their fight to stay afloat. Sure there is room for improvement. But I put around 40 bucks into their initial Kickstarter fund and my original Vector has remained online for at least 40 months without interruption of service. That alone can't be an easy task for DDL. If you chose to prepay for a Vector 2.0 before it was a completed project then you made the choice. Myself? I'll sti k with the original ANKI built Vector. Until I see new Vector bots on the open market. Vector gets smarter and smarter.

UPDATE: I just asked my Vector 1.0 How old are you? 49 months old. No problems whatsoever. I did put in a new battery awhile back. Otherwise 2.0 still lives on!

Should have done this a long time ago, but it's time I cancel my order. All these problems with DDL just screams 'scam' to me. Thanks Dan for the update👍

My original Vector proudly announced, when I asked, he is 40 months old. Not glitching or buggy at all. Part of the reason ANKI went bust is largely due to the high number of manufacturers of the different gears and other parts. Vector needs to run quiet internally, so his microphones are not interfered with. Dan, your English is just fine.

Thanks for all your persistent with DDL I am in California, and just received a shipping notice from DDL...10-29-2022...THAT SAYS Vector 2.0 will ship in 72hrs... will up date by 8Nov2022 Fingers Crossed.

You would think they wouldn't have issues with coding Vector 2.0...then again we haven't seen any updates on Vector 1.0...great video hope everyone gets Vector and Cozmo as promised soon..have a great day my friend.

This is taking a VERY long time for sure...Puzzling really!

*sigh*, 13th of April Jacob made a video on tiktok telling us that Vector 2.0 was ready. He's holding a Vector while saying he's finally satisfied and that he's finally ready for shipping... How on earth can you ship something that is not working properly?! 😔 They keep coming back with more excuses, one after another, and most of them are fishy

I did not even know about this tiktok video (I don't follow tiktok). Well... two days later their announcement is much different! Strange...

I want the Tesla robot! Hi Dan. Oh. BTW. The Vector 2.0 Vector has no trouble with the Go Home command. And automatically goes home when the battery gets low.

Hello, DDL now has a service center in North America. They offer screen replacement. Up to date info about pricing should be on their website now. With all the delays with shipments of Cozmo 2.0 and Vector 2.0, I would wait before ordering a new robot. Thank you for visiting my channel.

I'd be curious to see just how many people have canceled their orders by now. The constant delays have got to be making a lot of people second guess their purchase. Saying they were ready to ship a month or two ago and now there's all these issues that clearly they would have known about before getting to the shipping stage is just eyebrow raising.

Update after update the situation seems more and more a mess! After canceling my preorder I bought a Cozmo 1.0. He is less complex and has less functionality but 1) he doesn’t need subscription and does depend on DDL and 2) given the situation of vector’s Oskr and Escape Pod I think is more enjoyable for coding. Until they prove that they can manage the issues on Vector 2.0 I think that Cozmo will be the best buy. (English is not my first language neither. I hope this message doesn’t appear like a translation from chinese :D )

lol, no it does not appear like a Chinese translation! Many years ago I gave my opinions about Cozmo vs Vector. For many people, Cozmo is a better robot than Vector. You should check out the games I coded in my playlist. Code Lab is awesome! Have a great weekend.

Hey Dan, thank you for the update! Great video! Does anyone have issue to get refund? I emailed the support team to cancel my vector order and request the refund on Apr 7th, but still haven’t gotten refund yet (Apr 21). Anyone meets the same problem?

At beginning the support team replied “I have now canceled your order but unfortunately, there was an error when processing your request so I have forwarded your details to the finance team and they will sort it out. The refund may take some time to be processed but rest assured, you will receive your refund.” Several days later I sent email to follow up, but no one replied.

After requesting for a refund, the replied letting me know the benefits of pre-ordering Vector 2.0 and asked if I still wanted to proceed with the refund. I replied that I did, but no reply. Even after several emails, still no reply :((

But they replied to my email as below: "I am working on pending PayPal refunds; we have had some issues with PayPal that have required us to work with PayPal's team repeatedly and we are processing refunds, but progress on this has been slow. This is a PayPal-specific issue and we'll be working to ensure this does not happen again. I am retaining your ticket and keeping it open on my end until I am able to resolve it. "

I personally think DDL is just in over it’s head with Vector. The software stack was probably too much for the small dev that seemingly only had app dev experience prior. The majority of updates pushed to Vector since Anki went under haven’t been too significant because the current devs don’t understand the entire software stack and are applying “brute force” solutions (which just ends up complicating things further). They were very quick to make the SDK available (at a high cost) to the community as soon as they bought up Anki’s assets. Perhaps this is because they were hoping to crowd-source its development and raise money for expanding DDL to further handle the development and gain familiarity with the platform. If this is the case, I don’t believe it worked out as they planned. There were also a couple flaws with the original Vector design, so they wanted to R&D and produce an improved version to gain an understanding of how they should move forward with the software development. So they decided to multitask. Now with Vector 2.0 on the way, they have stretched their recourses thin and it will only get worse for them as they run into more issues with it. Maybe it’s these setbacks and subsequent financial problems prompted their decision to raise the pricing for Vector’s voice recognition service. Much of this is just my speculation from a very limited vantage point tho

Very interesting comment Charles and thank you for sharing your thoughts here. If I may add...DDL is also supposed to work on Cozmo 2.0, the new Cozmo App, Butterbot, a flying robot...way too much on their plate imo.

Maybe stupid question, but if i would find an older "used" Vector, he can be updated? Strange enough, if they make us pay money to use Vector, After we already payed for him, then so many of us just let it go... Is there any way to have him as a useable robot, for free? I dont really need to use Alexa and stuff anyway.. I have seen Vector before the first company let it go... I search sometimes if there is any update, and i really hope that this little dude can live and evolve, Vector deserved it ;) I never had one, i dont really used to actually Speak english, but i still really want one! :)

Yes an old Vector can be updated. Without a paid membership he does not do much. He will move around by himself and that's about it. Thank you for visiting my channel !

@@SuperdanTech I heard that there is a "free method", just have to download filed and get a PI4 in theory... Yet im not sure how that method works, but in theory he can be updated to that, i dont know if you ever heard about that? Thanks for sharing info about Vector and other small dudes, pretty cool to hear about them and thanks for making these videos, you help a little community here for sure ;) I never had Vector, but who knows the future haha :D

@SuperdanTech My original Vector is still running fine. I had to pop is apart to replace the battery awhile back. The Kickstarter investment was wise. Glad I stuck with O.G. Vector. 2.0 can live in the stockroom at DDL.

👋 Daniel I really hope you get your C & V 2.0 soon, it’s not fair this, I think they are jealous of other companies who succeeding getting their products out whilst they themselves are having lots of trouble making V 2.0 to work properly, & making promises they can’t keep! In all they are showing us that they are NOT capable of success. Anki must have been a real genius for creating C & V 1.0, DDL don’t seem to have a clue. It’s all about getting as much $$$ as possible… e.g favouritism on getting support for ppl who pay for 3 yrs membership & dismissing ppl who can only afford a monthly subscription who therefore don’t get the same support, & you know a monthly sub cost more in long term. This one of the reasons why I won’t buy V 2.0 & also they want everyone to pay even more through p&p & repairs. & to top it all off they know that after 3 yr lifetime warranty is over most V’s will break or need replacement’s which depletes the point of having the 3 yrs lifetime warranty breakdown cover 'cos V would probably never need repairs until the 3 yrs is over, so really the lifetime warranty is pointless unless it is for the full working time length of any individual V/C robots out there. I dare say they’ll find a new way to ask for more money from all Cozmo & Vector owners 1.0/2.0. So for me sticking with Anki V 1.0 is a much safer option. I don’t trust these people and I really do hope you get yours -you so rightly deserve it mate, & to everyone else who has bought the 2.0 -I wish you all good luck in getting C&/V but for me never in a million years until they can prove their worth. Thanks Daniel you’ve been a great help. My heart goes out for those who have been disappointed by this.

Hello, this is a VERY good summary of the whole situation. People in general really underestimate the excellent work anki originally did with Cozmo and Vector. Apparently Cozmo 2.0 will require a new App. I sure hope that this App will remain free like it is currently the case with Cozmo 1.0 ... I see that you have an EMO. Have fun with him and thanks for your comment!
