Family Classics was the best part of Sunday TV as a kid for me. I am sorry that childhood has changed so much now. Frazier Thomas gave us all so much!
I printed out the list of the movies shown, because I wanted to re-visit them as an adult. I didn't realize how really good some of those classics are! We Chicago kids have a wonderful shared memory. 😊💝
The theme music alone is enough to transport me back to Sunday Dinners with my Family.... Wonderful memories

A Saturday afternoon, sunny, slight smell of crap in the air ...drinking a cold old style, neighbors dog licking my balls , good times
Loved this series. Grew up watching it in Chicago. Favorite films were Flynn's Robin Hood, Mysterious Island, and Treasure Island, which seemed to show up most every year during the 1970s. Holiday movies like Canterville Ghost, Miracle on 34th Street, and A Christmas Carol were favorites, too. WGN should bring this back.
Calamity Jane, The Time Machine, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Broken Arrow, The Canterbury Ghost, that familiar theme song, and the voice of Frazier Thomas -priceless memories. I always had to go to the library after watching these Classics just to read the books they were based upon. Thanks for the fabulous memories.
THX for the memories. Watched it during the 60's on Friday Nights. Never missed a movie........at least I don't recall missing any during that time. But when it ended on Friday's, I had begun high school so by then I was otherwise occupied..........we all know the drill, wink-wink!!! lol
This is definitely a great presentation! God, do I ever miss those days if only we could go back...
Sunday dinner, then quality classic movies 🎬. The great old days.
Back in the day, everyone watched Family Classics! It didn’t matter how many times we had see an episode , it didn’t matter how old we were! When FC came on we had to watch! I remember hanging out with my early 20 something friends, we would drink bier an watch Family Classics!
Grew up in Lagrange and Hinsdale in the 1970s. This was my introduction to great movies. Ray Rayner in the morning, Bozo at lunch, after school was Adam West Batman, Spiderman cartoon, Speed Racer. I had a blue Schwinn Typhoon, a orange Cal 240 skateboard I was king of the World.

Different neighborhood, same town and times. I remember as a teen going back to Ray Rayner in the morning because his morning shows were better than the grownup morning shows. Plus Bugs Bunny and Slippery Rock sports reports. But Family Classics was the bedrock of Sunday afternoon tv for me. A whole bunch of classic films and actors my parents still don't believe I am old enough to remember. Thank you Frasier Thomas and Ray Raynor. Thanks WGN.
When you heard that intro..you knew it was going to be a good movie... thank-you Frazer Thomas
Thank you fir sharing. Our Chicagoland shows were so nice back in the 1960s and 1970s. And I still live in Chicago and has seen the changes of our city grown more.

Our Chicago for the unofficial end of the summer. It is hit here on a Wednesday in the first full week in September. And yes, politics of the city are still here as well. Life on the big cities. Furthermore, yes, the channel 9 and PBS channel 11 are still here and very active.
It's 2024 and a long time since this show aired. They should have something like this today. I'll be happy to play The Host..: )
I remember watching him Friday evening Saturday afternoon and Sunday look forward for the weekend on WGN Channel 9

Nice job! I didn’t realized the show times jumped around so much. I remember watching the very first Family Classics show. It was “Tom Sawyer”..

Sunday afternoons in Chicago aren't the same without Frazier Thomas & his Family Classics movie show. What memories that show evokes. ☺️
My Dad knew a lot about movies. He would give little insights during the movies. My Dad has passed how I miss him.

thanks for watching Paul!
It’s 3:30 Sunday was end of the weekend and time for Family Classic
Moby Dick, My Friend Flicka and Tobor are the ones I remember best. The remake of Moby Dick with Patrick Stewart as Ahab, wearing rouge, was impossible for me to fathom. Didn't watch it Ahab will always be Gregory Peck, to me.
