Doug's chat has quite a history of EU vs NA banter. Most notably there have been multiple streams where he first makes a mode (e.g. Skyrim or GTA) for a challenge, and then actually does the challenge, but the programming part had more viewers than the actual challenge because all the Europeans went to bed. Doug now claims that any unfun challenges come from European who are just there for the programming and will soon go to bed anyways. A completely unrelated development was that Doug wanted to play around with better TTS, e.g. to play D&D with random chat members. Note that this video still uses the 'default' TTS voice but does allow 'drunk' and 'sigh'; this is a quite old recording since he now has e.g. a TTS that speaks with his voice (though chat cannot control that one).
