Hi Jim. I hope you and your family are doing well. My RFE took 3 months. To respond. Then weeks after that they reviewed my case and I received my green card at the end of the 3 months. I was Approved and sent out to me by mail. Thank God. It took 3 years and 6 months for my marriage base green card. I also think it depends on which State you live in too. New York is super, busy. Good luck every one. Keep up the great job Mr Jim and your team

RFEs seem to take long to get responded to. A trick that worked for me was sending to USCIS a letter stating about my cases status and RFE docs i sent them namely stating: 1. I've already responded to there RFE response, 2. they said they would respond to my RFE receipt within 30 days and 3. Reminding USCIS that them not reviewing my RFE is treating me unfairly.

Gd day, I submitted my I-130 4.5 years ago and is still waiting for approval! It's ridiculous! I'm going to sue them in order to speed things up.

OmG! it´s like you heard my mind!!! I am going through that same question myself. I sent my RFE response two days after I received the notice. I sent it via MyUSCIS portal, and not in paper. And keep wondering if I should have done it in both ways.

I received I request for evidence and I sent it same day; on the portal it says they received but it has been 131 days since then and I haven’t heard anything from them; I called USCIS when it was 100 days to ask for an updated and nothing after 30 days; now I called again and they did another request for update and I have to wait another 30 days 🤯 let’s see what happens next. I’m applying for adjustment of status and it’s so frustrating when they just don’t answer

I finally got a decision after I did two things: I called into Jim’s show to ask him what to do (the answer was sue USCIS since we were close to the 1-year mark), and contacted my congressperson’s office to get help. I’m not sure which one made the needle move, but something budged my case and I got a decision the day before we were planning to sign the contract to sue. I hope your case gets decided soon!

USCIS got our RFE Medical and affidivit of support in May 2023 and we are still waiting Marriage based, this week got email 4 weeks for USCIS to make decision,,,The letter has 1 thru 4 numbers and 4th number states decision.

My i-130 is approved immigration asked for my medical rfe for the 485 and just waiting for a decision but my wife she is the one petitioning me she got a call last week from a supposed USCIS officer saying that he needs to speak with her call her four times two days later he even called her sons and then left a message saying that he needs to speak with her and if it was possible they could even meet up at a Starbucks is that legal

I filed my AOS Dec 2023 and Jan 2024 I received my combo card then Feb 2024 I received RFE the day after I submit my RFE March 1 2024 USCIS RECEIVED MY REQUEST RESPONSE since then my case status never change it's been 4 months now my status still no change. Thank you for your videos. My medical was late after interview so I was refused, however it was sent over on the 1st of this month and we got approved on the 2nd. Ever since the 2nd our CEAC have been saying approved. How long do you think we’ll have to wait until it gets issued? I’m from Jamaica 🇯🇲

Hi Jim! As I mentioned to you sometime back that my son will turn 21 years old on 20/12/24, and, the waiting for him to apply Green Cards for me and the mother seems to take forever. Yahh, they sent us an rfe back in 2021, we responded in time, and they received it and sat on it for 2 weeks. Then they marked it as "received" and my wife got her work permit a few months later

Hi Jim, I had attended an interview with my spouse May 2022. I-130 approved July 2023 the same day I got an RFE based on an error in my initial I-693. I have since responded to RFE but havent heard back. It's 8 weeks now. Is it normal? Given the fact that I-130 is approved and my application is 19 months already

Hello my husband and I applied for his AOS he received his EAD card then we got RFE in Nov 2023 for his I485 we immediately sent out his response. He received a notice Dec 2023 that his case is actively being reviewed. I know his case will be approved soon but alot of his friends who sent their application after us and also received RFE were approved for their green card. He is worried but I'm telling him it will eventually happen. Should we wait or make an inquiry and if we make an inquiry who do we contact.

I’m glad you posted this video Jim cause that’s exactly my situation. My PD is January 23 2023, sent everything except my medical. They sent me an rfe on June 25 and they received it July 22 (was delivered July 8th but they acknowledged receipt July 22). Now I’m just waiting on them lol.

For simpler AOS via marriage cases, would it be better to submit the medical with the inital application packet rather than waiting for an RFE or a possible interview? Does the medical "expire" at some point on time?

It does expire, yes. It’s 2 years from the date the civil surgeon signed the form, so if USCIS has dragged their feet long enough and have not decided your case at that point, you have to do it again. We did not submit my I-693 until we got an RFE because our field office published a processing time of over 2 years when we filed. Made sense at the time, but the I-130 was decided in 6 months and we were left with a 5-month wait after the medical RFE. Sucked.

Just submit your medical at the beginning, it takes time to send out rfe and mailed in your response and wait for their end to update your case status

Hi Jim. They received my RFE 1 week ago (according to USPS receipt) but USCIS Portal still showing they are waiting for the RFE. Does it usually take that long for them to update it? My RFE was for the Medical exam and was requested by the Lee’s Summit MO office.

USCIS received my RFE 1.5 years ago. They never responded. Still waiting since I responded to the RFE last year in April 2022

Your precious advice will be truly appreciated 🙏 : I entered USA illegally one year ago via Mexico where I applied for asylum at nogales arizona border. My appointment with the judge for my asylum case is scheduled for 2027. I'm currently dating someone who is US Born Citizen. Our relationship is getting serious and he has started to talk about engagement and marriage. If we get married when waiting for my asylum appointment, can I apply for marriage based green card (adjustment of status) or am I obligated to go back to my country so my husband can file i130 for me? Please note that there is absolutely no way for me to go back to my country because I'm flying serious life threatening persecution. Me and my 7 years old son safety will be jeopardized if we go back to my country. What other options do I please have to become legal if I get married to my us born citizen boyfriend?
