I have to disagree with the other comments, the PSB's sounded more balanced and open to me, the Wharfedale's sounded like they were playing behind a curtain !

Little off topic but I have the Alpha P3, what an awesome little speaker.

The 12.2 slays the thin sounding P5 in the midrange area. Deeper bass and smoother highs too. Check out the transition in Seasons, the P5 sounds very V shaped with a lot of information in the mids compressed. The 12.2 on the other hand sounds very natural and organic. Very noticeable in most songs.

I tended to like the 12.2 more too, but on the song 'Star Night' the PSB's sounded quite nice!

PSB what tweeter is that, it's wonderful sounding,the bass is sweet . Wharfdale as always great in the mids . On this alone my money goes to PSB ..

The Wharfedale 12.2 is better, more balanced and musical. The PS Alpha 5's have sufficeint highs and mids, but lack body and bass weight and sound comparatively hollow. The inverse driver configuration can work when well designed, but the "highs" eminating from below the "lows" can be percieved as odd to some. Back when I worked for hifi dealers selling Mission, Infinity, JBL, Polk, Klipsh and others, the Missions with inverted drivers often sounded at least as good as other speakers, but few seemed to be comfortable with the design. Don't know how much of that was sound or looks.

I'll make a slight correction to my comment the PS 5's lack bass "weght". Listening again, I'd say they have decent weight. Their bass may be even deeper than the Wharfedales, but it's less even and full and gives an impression of something lacking.

The PSB sounds better here than in your other videos featuring it, but it's still no match for the 12.2, which is more balanced and richer. The PSB is thinner and brighter, at times bordering on shrill

Balanced? If by balanced you mean muffled then yes

What are we doing here? I’ll tell you what I’m doing. I’m shopping bookshelfs that integrate into my space- handsomely. D12.2 $150 more 1-1/8” wider 1-7/8” taller 2-7/8” deeper Nicer badging. Winner; P5. No brainer

The Wharfedales are more open.

if you love midrange the wharfdales...if you love a V sound...PSB (dont pair these speakers with a digital amp)

Diamond 12.2 better all the way around.

PSB is too V shape to be natural， 12.2 wins hands down

The PSB sounds everything how it's measured by ASR, like bad freq. response, dips, thin, uneven, low frequency? etc. In some way the demo here is even flattered, because the off-axis response is prob. correctly done. I've auditioned them for real and it's MUCH worse sounding. What where they thinking? 🙄 The 12 crushes the PSB in everything, no match at all, imo. Nice compare E Project, to save us from harm 😄

To me PSB sounds better

I bought the 12.2 recently and don't like the sound all that much. Was gonna try the PSB Alpha P5 but listening to this vid the PSB 5 sounds metallic and tinny. The 12.2 sounds muddy and boxy. Any other speakers around this price range that sound more balanced?

no comparison at all, 12.2 wins by a mile

I have not heard a single demo where the Alpha P5 sounded good. So overrated.
