UPLIFTING Renovation for Heroic Veteran Community | George to the Rescue (FULL EPISODE)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this powerful episode of 'George to the Rescue': a much-needed renovation for a selfless and beyond deserving veteran community located in Gardner, Massachusetts.
Since its founding in 1982, the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center (MVOC) has been dedicated to supporting veterans in North Central Massachusetts. Every year, the MVOC provides essential services to over 500 veterans, including housing, mental health counseling, case management, benefits advisement, and reintegration activities. Additionally, they offer a food and clothing pantry, as well as a food box delivery program and medical transportation. MVOC’s goal is to ensure that every veteran in their community can access the resources they need to thrive.
Tune in as host George Oliphant - along with the Jane Barnes Interiors design team, BB&R Design-Build, National Grid, Comcast, 3M, local electricians, flooring crews, painters, and artists who all graciously donated their time, creativity, and resources to making this remodeling project a reality - transform the center into a more modern, relaxing, and comfortable space for these amazing local veterans and their families...all while helping to raise awareness for MVOC's important and heartwarming mission in the process. And you better believe that the fun surprises didn't just end with all of these jaw-dropping construction and energy efficient upgrades: the Boston Red Sox invited these valiant heroes for a once-in-a-lifetime private tour of Fenway Park AND to a game during the upcoming baseball season; Comcast provide free Wi-Fi and laptops to the center so that its participants could continue to thrive in all of their endeavors; and National Grid donated $10,000 to assist MVOC's outreach efforts. Behold: the true power of community in effect!

Government never do their best for the veterans……in Canada when our veterans asked for assistance, our Prime Minister said they were asking for too much and the government couldn’t give them anything. How’s that for taking care of those that protect not just us, but our country!

My brother was a Vietnam vet and he was not welcomed home, either except by his mom and dad and his sister. he would never talk about it he would never say he was a veteran. When they brought the the wall to Branson Missouri my brother would not come, he would not walk in the first parade, he would not acknowledge it at all, he felt so wounded it took almost 40 years for me to get a brother who turned out to be a friend, back in my life. He passed in 2012

I am sorry, that must've been so painful for all of you. Sometimes governments make questionable decisions that history may judge, but that doesn't lessen the suffering of the individuals that fought in those wars. Coming home and finding hostility after so much personal sacrifice... Can't truly imagine what that takes from a person but must be terrible.

PTSD could have been my father’s problem??? He was in the Air Force in the early ‘50’s and I was born in 58 and my dad killed himself in 1970…💔💔💔💔 I just want to say to you and your family how sorry I am for your loss 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 My family is from the hills of Eastern Kentucky and the memorial headstone from the Revolutionary War has one of my ancestors name on it, as well as every war since….. I neglected my duty to serve my country because I grew up in the ‘60’s, watching THE DRAFT and how those heroes came home to be spit on and be called baby killers by the protesters 😢😢😢💔….. war is not anything we want to do, but those who choose to stand up for our country and serve in the armed services are TRUE HEROES, in my eyes 🙏❤️

As great as projects like this are, this just masks the insanity of war. Until America stops promoting war as a solution and soldiers as heroes the horror and pain of so many lives destroyed simply goes on. This little project is a bandage on a hemorrhage, or cancer, that goes merrily on. It's time to shift from helping vets to preventing new vets from being created. There is literally no effort to speak out against war any more nor any true accounting of how being a soldier destroys people. I wouldn't wish military service on anyone. Fighting America's evil, illegal wars pretending America is fighting to defend freedom is flat out naive.

vietnam vets were not spit on when they came home. that idea was propagated by a line in a movie, not historical fact.
