I also have the - - reading for my temp and was really getting scared that the fix was going to be something horrible and complicated, but thankfully my truck is a 2002 and my console is from a 2002 so now I know that all I need is the temp sensor. It's a shame that you got stuck with the older overhead because it just doesn't seem as nice. Now i'm off to get a new sensor!

Great question, and great minds think alike! I was thinking the same thing, the 1st overhead was from an 02, so why couldn't I get an 02 HVAC control and see if that worked? The only thing I can think of, the 02 HVAC control may need to be "calibrated" to our 01 PCM, but I have found a couple of 02 HVAC units for $15 bucks at local junk yards, and for $15 bucks it is worth a shot. If you get yours done, let me know if it works, and I will do the same man!

i have a 2000 ram 1500 just wondering if you know how to set the other features on the overhead trip, console becausemine recently was reset because the compass was not working and I went from getting 12 miles per gallon to 10 miles per gallon according to what the overhead console says

Was there something special you had to do to get the Homelink to work once you replaced the console?

How do you set the time on the overhead display and radio? I just bought a 2003 ram with the same setup but no owners manual. I can't for the life of me figure out how to set the time on either one.

Great video, it may be too long by now but if you can help me would be nice. I have the same problem, and reading in some jeep forums they say I may have a shortcut somewhere in the PCI Bus connection (violet/yellow wire). Did you ever got to fix the problem of the temperature dashes?

$15 not bad. but trying to find a overhead trip computer for a Dodge Dakota is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack at my local junk yards. eBay has a couple w/ bracket but cheapest one is $130 plus i need a wiring harness and a rear view mirror, luckily most Chrysler cars have the same rear view mirror and HVAC units and maybe wiring harness and i could get them for ''free''........ LOL. I have to fix all of my weather strips on my Dakota now that its summer so i think later on maybe.
