Unreal light! Hiking up Welsh Mountains - Landscape Photography with the Canon R5
Looking for inspiration to get outdoors in nature? Want to improve your photography? Get outside and get up high into the mountains!
Join me in this vlog for a hike up my first mountain in Wales to do some Landscape Photography with the Canon R5. We visit The Sugar Loaf Mountain near Abergavenny. It’s great to get outdoors and get muddy! I really enjoyed climbing this peak with my 3 month old son. This was a huge achievement for me, and despite the challenges doing this as a new mum, the light at the top was totally worth it. I might not have been able to linger for photographs but I had fresh air in my lungs and in my body, I really felt alive and empowered. Stay tuned for the end of the video for a few exciting announcements. Thanks for following along with my photography journey, I appreciate the support. I hope you have come away feeling a bit more connected to nature.

I agree Suzannah that nature makes us feel whole - we are it and it is us. I know what it is though we're attracted too. Nature is a vibration and we digest it. Ah, how good it feels to tap in. Some nice pics there - I trust you're on your way to improving the quality. All the best with that. Take care. Mark (Hereford)

Excellent video Suzannah absolutely stunning photos and scenery thank you for sharing your video. Wish you the very best of luck with your new projects Wales is definitely on my wishlist I'm not sure what lens you got with your camera the 24 to 105 was a standard lens with that camera about 2 years ago. I follow an Irish photographer called Darren Spoonley he has a you tube channel and from what I can see it never let's him down if you want to check out his channel I'm sure he would give you some good advice about this issue

Thank you, Wales is very beautiful ❤️ Thanks for the tips, I shall check them out. I am using a 24-105mm F4 R lens and it's solved the issues entirely. Had to sell a couple of lenses but worth it for sure 👍

Great to see you up and about, as well as your successful transition from pregnancy to motherhood! Hopefully, you document your son’s excursions with at least one photo of him in the surrounding landscape. What a great legacy that you could leave him about his adventures with his mom when he was a baby and child.

@@SuzannahMary Hopefully, there is some sort of safe, motorized all-terrain wagon that you can get to put him, and maybe some camera gear as well. It certainly will set you apart from the other landscape photographers that bring their dogs with them on their adventures.

Surprised at the report of the quality from a Canon flagship camera. I once had a low-end thousand-series EOS that was not in focus until I stood on tip-toe, just about to fall over. That was enough to put me off. This was back when digital was new and film was still king. I bought a Leica-R. I still use it.

Yes sadly it's more of a lens issue than a camera issue, they are older model lenses so it does make sense and explains a lot of the issues I was having. Oh interesting, good your still confident in it and making best use of it

For more regular content maybe look at doing "inhouse" videos like the outro on this one where you talk about those inspirational content creators - that's a good way to back them back and also keep regular content going on the channel..just an idea? Where did u start your walk to Sugarloaf from?

I am curious what RF lens you decide on, or should I say which lenses. I am down to just a couple of EF lenses. I need to sell the remaining ones I don't use. The only one I do use is the 70-200 f2.8 III. That lens works great on the RF bodies. I am glad you found your passion in landscape photography. I found mine in wildlife but I haver enjoyed your channel.

Yes shall keep you all posted via the vlogs, I have found that the older models (mark I version) just isn't up to standard. Sounds like the mark iii though would be after speaking to a few friendly camera shop folk. Oh thank you, that's very kind. Especially if wildlife is your thing, some great wild life vloggers out there 👍

I think the problem you have with images not being sharp, comes down to diffraction. 45 Megapixels. On my 5d3, diffraction kicks in at f11. I'm using the 24-105 f4 L version one. I think around f9 on my 6d2. As that has a couple more Megapixels.

I thought that too 🤔 Having a larger MP camera has certainly changed the way I shoot. Very useful info, once the new lens arrives I shall play around with the F stop to see if that helps 👍
