Hello Pete, can you confirm if the DVP-SR170 can be made region free? the one you seem to be using in the video is actually a DVP-SR160 which seems to be identical other than the scart port. I'm asking this because the DVP-SR160 is in the list on the ebay page while the 170 isn't and I don't want to buy a player that turns out to not work with the remote.

I am just seeing that the 170 also has released with a scart port so i stand corrected. Then I'm sure that it will work. Sorry!

Hi Camy, the DVP-SR170 doesnt always work, some do and others don't. I'd go on the safe side and don't buy it to convert. I think I got lucky with mine in the video( or maybe it was a 160!), but lately the 170's aren't converting. It could be different firmware in later models.

Tested and doesn't work for BDP S3700 Model. If anyone knows if it's possible on this model, please let me know.

Hi. Thanks for watching. This particular one is just for Uk region 2 , But look about on google, I think it would be just that the codes are different so one may be available for your region.

Idk why my dvd player cant play some dvd but it can read vcd and music cd..... Help

I don't think I can help you then as I'm only good with UK models. Have a good day though.🙂

Every model has a different codes for free region , so these code doesn’t work for all Sony dvd players .

If you go and look at the listings for the remotes, they have a list they work for. But yes,lots of them don't unlock unless they have new codes. The manufacturers have moved on to Blu-rays now, but region free Blu-ray is getting commoner.

I really want one of these that supports the BDP-S1500, any thoughts please mate?

Hi thanks for watching. I dont think that one can be unlocked with this remote anymore as they have updated the firmware. Another type with new codes might do it byt I dont know the details. Either way you need codes put in with a remote. Regards, Pete

@@PetesRetroCollectables I did watch the video when it first came out (that bell notification is really handy) i do need to try and find the time to sit down for a rewatch.

I live in Dubai, UAE & I would like to buy that Remote Pls. Pls do let me know if it’s possible. I have the same Blu Ray player & unable to watch movers that I bough from US & other regions.

Hi thanks for watching. they are available on eBay UK . BUT they are programmed for UK models of the dvd and blueray players. I'm afraid they probably won't work.

Can this be done on a Sony DvdSR210P I have a friend that wants this done and I could do it if there's a mether and it works on that model msg me anyone if it will work.

some will but most won't. It all depends on what firmware they have. Unfortunately uou cant tell so they aren't on the list for this remote.
