I live in Canada. But I do purchase dvds from the UK. Sometimes the PAL dvds will play sometimes not. Sometimes they are so hardcore "LOCKED", it is near impossible to get them to play. The reason I buy from the UK sometimes is their special features on older dvds are more than what we get on the dvd here in North America. And also sometimes the dvd even with shipping is cheaper than dvds here. I have gotten quite a few dvds from the UK for under 10 dollars a piece and this is with shipping included. I would like to get a region free player but not sure what a good one would be to get and also I don't want to spend a fortune. Great video. Happy you posted.

What about a region free player?

Region codes are a pain in the butt. I live in Europe, I collect movies as a hobby but I tend to look for snapper cases (these paper ones with plastic hinge, gorgeous artwork and scene index that were produced two decades ago). They are very rare. However, some of these can be found in the US... in Region 1 form. My DVD player plays Region 2 only. If I had an old player (with RPC1 which could play any region) or a region free one... let's just say I would be very happy. Also, this RCE thingy was so useless and stupid: lock your DVDs in a way that they can't even play in Region Free players and terrify people with an unskipable map. Of course, this could be broken very easily: since RCE discs were Region 1 only, you could play a normal Region 1 discs for a few seconds on your player, then insert the RCE one and it would play. Quite stupid. Also, has anybody ever seen Region 3, 5 and 6 DVDs?

I have seen a region 6 dvd of Evan Almighty, and I own it.

Region coding sucks! Nothing else to say. If I buy a DVD I should have the right to play it wherever I take it, why should someone care about royalties for a DVD I bought in a different country? They already got the money! Same thing with streaming, paying for a service that gives me some movies here and some different ones there. The Copyright-System needs a major update in my opinion.

do you have any info on what the numbers on the shoulder part of the dvd case, most have a E followed by numbers, sometimes it doesnt

I have an old authentic DVD that has a purple tint. The DVD is from yamaha corporation. The DVD has files on it. The DVD case says Operating Requirements: PC operating Windows 95 or later with a dvd-rom drive. I put the DVD into my mac external super drive and it cannot read the DVD. Nothing happens. I have a lot of DVDs from the same company but all of them have a silver tint to it. This purple dvd is the only one that can't be read. Do you know what might be wrong. I have two of the same DVDs and both won't read. Driving me crazy.

What about Region code 0 will it work with VLC Media Player?

Can you talk about this with XBOX 360 games? I had bought a video game through ebay from the UK, and i live in the US. The disc will not play due to a region code error. Please help me.

There is not a lot you can do with the Xbox 360 when it comes to region codes. The games were meant to only be played in that specific region. The region code in the Xbox 360 is in the hardware. I do not know much about the Xbox 360 console because I do not own one.

Okay, I need to know this! Forgive me if it's already been answered. A DVD that I really want is only available as Region Free, (that I've seen, anyway.). My question is: Can Region Free DVDs be played on Region1 players? If not, is there a way to make them playable?

If it's a region free disc, that means any player will play the disc since there are no restrictions on the disc.

Easy: It won't.

Bought a 3 disc bluray and only can play the 4k on my Xbox cuz the other 2 won’t work cuz they’re region locked ☠️

If it has no region code or a globe it means it might be region free
