Kizer Grouper has a similar blade shape, button-liner lock, and is around $70, so if you're looking for another similar one, there it is. Look's like a nice knife.

What an interesting piece with a cool intersection of features. If other performance tests are in order, great, if not, I’ll still keep my eyes open.

It would make a good gift for the person getting into knives. The Shilencutter is an old shape as you said.

Gball reviewed a Fintiso with aluminum scales and 14C28N around two months ago that was selling on Amazon for around $36-40. I tried to get one, but it sold out very quickly. Fintiso definitely seems like an up-and-coming brand. Also, I've been looking for a trash-friendly knife.👍

Wow that's the story of my life period in what I always do. I hold off until I see a bunch of reviews and hear from a bunch of my peers of what they think of the knife first. Then when it turns out to be a winner I can't find them because they're out of stock.

I picked up a few of their knives a couple of months ago, and they aren't too bad for the price. I'll have to grab this one, because I also like the Shilin blade shape.

If I hadn't just dropped about $185 on four knives in the last four days, I would pick one of these up. That aluminum one looks pretty amazing for the dollar spent. Midway USA has the Cold Steel AD15 Lite on sale for $39 right now, which is a pretty insane price considering how much they went for prior to now.

The hard part is that there's only so many bladeshapes out there and only so many things you can do from a design perspective to differentiate from others..at least in my opinion I believe that the big differentiator comes in form/fit/finish and cost..the tuning of things like detent and lockup and QC items being solid as a baseline standard

I can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't use the deep carry clip on the premium version of that knife🤔 that knife gives off some fox vox chilin vibes as well.

For $139 you can buy a fantastic Benchmade Bugout with plastic handle. Why would you go for premium material when you can choose the awesome crap that BM produces?

Yeah theoretically it should be a better lock. But I have no problem with plunge locks that are well made. And I haven’t been impressed with the “Top Liner Lock” yet. I have had two Vosteeds with that lock and both came with worryingly early lock-up. After a couple days of carrying them, opening and closing a good bit, the lock started failing and no adjustments I made would make it work properly. So I remain skeptical of that lock. I have had plunge/button locks that also failed easily, but only from CRKT (and I don’t expect much from them); every other one I’ve had from Civivi, CJRB, Vosteed, Kizer, etc has been solid and reliable.

Yeah just had a kizer serape original completely fail and cut my wife's finger pretty bad. Even though they replaced it for free it just put me off on button locks. Also don't like the lack of any real detent on those mechanism. Cheers!

I’m not too impressed with the brand yet. I think they have promise, but the two I got from them already had issues. I got the one that looks kinda like a Civivi Wyvern but with smooth aluminum scales, and unfortunately I had to have Amazon replace it: the tip was touchable and dangerous when closed, and the blade was rapping against the stand-off post when closing, causing a divot in the edge. The replacement didn’t have those issues (well you can still touch the tip if you try, but it’s not like it will snag anything and cut you open), but the action still just feels kinda…cheap? Both models had weak detent, lock stick, and the bearings don’t feel very smooth. The other model I got was the long skinny one with the gear design around the pivot. lt came hair-splitting sharp, and I like everything about this one EXCEPT one major issue: even worse than the other model, the tip of this one is dangerously exposed when it’s closed. It would be very easy to accidentally rip your finger open if you weren’t paying attention while handling the knife. This kind of thing is a big oversight-perhaps forgivable for a brand new company, but it pretty much means I have no desire to carry the knife as an EDC. If Fintiso can get the tip issue sorted out on future models, they might be a decent contender in the market. I had this Cobra series one in my cart-it looks very attractive, for sure-but until I trust the company more, I think I will hold off on buying anything else they make.

So yep there are going to be those harping it looks like this knife or that knife it's a clone blah ,blah,blah....almost every single knife that comes out is an iteration of a previous producer knife since the beginning of knives. The button lock is way over done the new plunge style locks are nice but soon folks will be complaining about too many of those as well. I like a knife with a unique looking blade shape. So this one fits the bill there. I have noticed lately the large amount of what will say are overpriced knives being offered under the pretext of it being a collector's piece cause they only made 500 or 1000 of them. Look I've no issues with collector's but when all the review channels are all pushing mass produced knives and because of a little titanium and "premium" blade steel this knife is now supposedly worth $300 dollars? I am buying what they are trying to sell us on. Now are there one of a kind works of art, handmade knives out there at those prices? Yes there are and totally worth the asking price in most instances. That's different from what's been making the rounds of late. Sorry for the ramble but to me the knife will always be first and foremost a tool for multiple tasks including protection in a pinch. The rest is all politics.

Looks like everyone is cloning/ copying Vosteed at this point. Its pretty clear youre giving them a good reach around/ biased review. Pretending "different scales" makes it different is just dishonest. Also, the spine tap test makes sense for everyone NOT reviewing the knife. Some people actually use the knives they BUY...
