From my personal experience to date Orient is great value for the quality in what they offer in many of their sport watches. One of the only negatives I could add about these new releases along with their other releases of this same style last year is lack of any AR coating on sapphire. Most may not notice but some will if you already have a watch with it on lens. It's definitely not a deal breaker for a watch that can be worn daily and still do some work... not referring to only office work. Step up getting sapphire compared to others with mineral crystal.

This week is my slaying week, I guess...I loved my Ray Raven II and am sorry I gave it to the person I did, but gifts are gifts. HOWEVER, given the movement and such of these two "limited edition" watches, the pricing kinda puts me off. I love burgundy enough to ride a 2007 motorcycle whose paint was natively burgundy...twice. I prefer the blue in this case. I'm glad I checked out Orient's website and found both in the heavily, but normally, discounted price of around $315...at that price, maybe.

Hah, for that coin, get a Phoibos Narwhal or Kraken. Both are 300m dive watches, and both are powered by a Miyota 9015 hi-beat 28,800 bph, and huge lume. Granted, they don't have a day complication, however the other specs are more than Orient is currently offering. If Orient were to start offering hi-beat movements I would definitely give them some more love.

I love the variety of timepieces by Orient. It is confounding that they can produce nice timepieces at such a low cost. One hang up for me is the mineral crystal. I wore my orient contemporary dress watch at work one day and scraped the edge of the flat crystal on a piece of machinery. I was honeymooning the piece when I first got it and just had to wear it 24/7..... You know the feeling. I left work and brought it to a repairman to install a sapphire crystal. I never wear that watch to work now! Lessons learned. Looking into the orient diver with sapphire crystal for my son as a gift as he becomes a daddy this fall.

Hmmm, a 'limited edition', of a mass produced watch. Huh? I have and frequently wear my Gen 1 Red Kamasu so I obviously have no issue with Orient, but this 'limited' stuff is silly. And my Kamasu didn't cost me $450 and I got essentially the same watch as these. As you noted, Orient needs to focus on being Orient and throw off the temptation to play Seiko.

I own the blue/green gradient dial non limited edition gen 2 kamasu. I don't mind the patina lume. Most of my watches are either vintage or vintage inspired. In my opinion this kind of fills the void for the SKX. It's very similar feeling on the wrist and in size and in many ways its better. Better components, better looking in my opinion, better movement, better bezel action, lume is just as bright because i think its using seikos lume. The SKX did have a better factory bracelet. The factory Orient bracelet is garbage and you need to buy the strapcode bracelet . I paid about 350ish for the watch and bracelet. The strapcode jubilee looks dope on this watch. I own watches from high end, mid tier, and affordable. It's a solid piece. Im using it as my beater/adventure watch and its been great so far. I know it's literally pure dumb luck but mine is running literally +1 to -1 second a day. My only gripe was when the watch was new the crown threads were very rough and unscrewing and screwing down the crown did not feel smooth. It has smoothed out since I've been wearing it. Must of been a burr or something on the crown threads.

Orient watches are very good. However, I think they also play it safe too much and do not have many original dials. These are supposed to be Kamasu 2's and they have a Rolex Submariner vibe to them. The new Orient Tritons look similar but are lower in price and, in my view, better than the Kamasu's. Orient should come out with more watches with unique dial designs. This, in my view, is why Seiko has decided to hike their prices since they're going to make watches with more unique designs. A prime example are the Seiko Samurais.

If Orient starts acting like Seiko. They will be another brand I stop buying. Sadly, the preowned Seiko market has gone the same way as the new Seiko market. If they wasnt to be exclusive and high end prices, I will jsut admore them on other people’s wrists.s

What I'll be saying here may be controversial to the watch community and is open to further discussion. I strongly believe that the earth's sustainability agenda should not only be the burden of big players such as Renewable Energy and EV car industries, but that the watch industry can make a huge contribution to greening the planet and lowering its carbon footprint by CEASING the production and sale of battery powered quartz watches. Instead, it should promote heavily the sale of solar / kinetic / mechanical / spring drive movement watches. Similarly, social media influencers can play a significant role by encouraging it's user base to move towards these watch movements instead of promoting quartz watches, no matter how tempting they are in the price point and luxury designs. I say this because the watch industry has a mature technology on these movements especially solar powered watches which can be mass produced to lower the cost further, unlike say the EV car industry currently. Secondly, using battery powered quartz watches requires replacement within 2 years, unlike solar powered batteries which can last up to 2 decades. Ceasing the production of new battery powered watches will significantly reduce landfills in the future unless an effective technology already exists to recycle ALL used batteries completely. Also, batteries used in quartz watches for the short term is akin to using coal to generate energy and carbon fuel for cars. Lastly, it's already bad enough to replace the billions of existing batteries in legacy quartz watches, so let's hope the watch industry will not burden the earth further with new releases of quartz watches! Personally, I haven't been purchasing new quartz watches and am slowly phasing out the use of my legacy quartz watch collections, i.e. I don't replace the batteries in dead quartz watches any more but instead use them as exhibition showpiece purely for their artistic design and aesthetics. Besides, quartz watches are not as fun to wear as alternative movements due to their lack of user interaction which gives a watch a "soul", I digress. Any comments?

Why I would recommend a dive watch as the perfect field watch: 1. Bezel can be used as a timer chronograph, a compass and gmt dual time indicator. 2. Higher water resistance than a traditional field watch, indicating higher robustness 3. Better lume and legibility than a traditional field watch

Idk if I agree with you about orient taking Seiko's spot. Theoretically yes. But literally, no. It’s still the entry level king. I bought a Seiko SNK recently for under $100 retail and brand new (received March 1st, 2020) and it really sparked my interest in the hobby as a whole.... got into watch making, modding, strap making…that was a result of 5th of the price of this Orient…so, sorry but I do not agree. Don’t get outa touch now, my dude
