Had a set of anodized pierced alloy rims on my Mongoose Californian back in the late 80's and remember the brakes grabbed absolutely super! Awesome to hear someone is making an anodized double wall! 👍 20%🚵

Well there’s this Canadian brand called we are one composites I might trust a carbon street rim from them. Lifetime warranty hand laid in Canada for less then comparable carbon mtb rims with lesser warranties. Uber high level of accuracy to their process. And they seem to hold up better than anything else in the mtb world carbon rim wise. More likely to trust it for dirt jumps though. But 17 ounces for a 29 inch enduro rim and 19 ounces for their 29 dh spec rim. They could probably hit that 10-14 ounce range with enough strength.

been running them for awhile, strong & light just like advertised. but it is worth noting that you will have trouble finding double butted spokes depending on the hub you have (profile mini/madera in this case ) and if you’re a ti spoke guy, you’re probably going to be out of luck

Most local bike shops are able to cut spokes to length, including titanium

I've had a few alienation rims and always thought they were pretty solid..havent had a pair on my bike in a few years though after using kink rims. Not that they are better or worse just had the colors I wanted and they have crossed spoke rims which i swear by

I tape spokes then.......rim swap. Never fails. Dave Mirra showed the world that method in the classic RIDE ON Bmx video.

That's probably easier than what I do. I put the rims side by side and move the spokes individually

Very nice, I would have bought Alienation but they didn't have chrome. You should definitely take advantage and try out tubeless. I bet it feels sick. I'm going to get some Tubolito tubes, nearly as light as tubeless. Alienation is a great company, I like how they explain themselves in their literature. Send me some, I'll test them against my Odysseys, :D.

Can't wait for the Vandal 22" to drop

It’s for running them tubeless. When tubeless you use a presta valve in the extra smaller hole and use that yellow tab to plug the schreader hole up before putting on the rim tape.

Hi there. Thanks for all the great content your putting out!! Love the channel. Question for you......I'm on my first bmx build and can't decide between chrome rims vs black anodized rims. Looking at the Alienation Vandal rims. Do chrome rims provide better braking than black anodized. I'm coming back to bmx after many years....older fellow here....lol. I'll be running front and back brakes. I can't stand the loud squeals/screech noises these clear pads give that i've seen on black rims. Many thanks

If you don’t like the squeal I might lean toward chrome rims with non clear pads. The vandal in black works great with clear pads, but it can be loud. Also, welcome back to BMX!!! Psyched to hear you’re getting back into it and hope you enjoy it again!

You can try black rims with non clear pads too man! I just don’t know for sure if the braking power would quite be there. I’ve ridden clear pads on black rims for so long. And thank you!! Doing my best every day!

Can you still run the high pressure when tubeless ?

I believe so. These tcs rims hold on to tire beads like no rims I’ve ever seen. If you don’t break the bead loose all the way around it, you almost can’t get the tire off

Could just be a box for hand built wheels. A few companies build their wheels by hand in America profile is one.

H#ll yea! Bro your the first person I've heard for years that even knows what alex triples are. They were the thing to have back in the day lol. Early 2000's. I still think Alex supra E triple wall rims are the sickest looking rim ever made. I had a set of chrome's on my s&m and some gunmetal colored ones on my haro backtrail...damn I miss both them bikes..I've never seen a set of those rims break or barly even bend ever at all! And every body I rode with had them aswell as most of the real bmx guys in town. Now I seen a set of alex triples online for 700$ a set saying "rare"..crazy lol makes me feel old😄 I bought mine for 200$ a set back in the day with spokes and poverty hubs with 14m axels..

Had them. Loved them. But my back doesn’t miss the extra weight at ALL. Running Alienation Delinquents, Skylarks, Mischiefs, and Malice rims these days and I’ve gotta say, I’ll take this 21lb rig over my midschool 35+ pounder anyday.

Where can I get a set of these? I can’t seem to find them in stock.

Sunn makes some strong rims for the cost around $50, so a bit cheaper than a lot of cos...but I've seen only a few places actually have them in stock. But, Sunn was the co that made the best rims before Gsport rims ect were produced.

Just got my new bars yesterday went for a little cruise today. Was awesome plus the animal 15mm offset forks I got are super nice for hang fives. On the note of rims chrome is my favourite for brakes. Also if I’m not mistaken the g sport birdcage is lighter than the felon and pretty sure they make a lighter rim that’s supposed to be front only and weighs like 11 ounces. FYI I got the Dylan Lloyd signature bars from wtp. Feel really nice and I love the width.

Then the birdcage? Or the other alienation rim? Cause pretty sure it’s called the deviant and it’s like 10 or 11 ounces so like 3 and a bit lighter. If I’m not mistaken you said 14.7 for the felon g sport birdcage is 14.5oz OUUUU dems some fightin words. I joke I joke, but now I may have to test the felon out. Love the way chrome looks but it’s expensive and not sure how polished and chrome would look side by side. Even if the blacks on the rims don’t match it’s less noticeable. They don’t make them in bmx but I’ve ridden old textured road bike rims, they’re knurled and work friggin awesome. I wish someone would do that in bmx. Kinda looks badass too. But yeah of the rims got a texture too it then it’s gonna grip amazing. Looks subtle but I don’t doubt it works well, chrome is hard to beat though. So I’ll be impressed if they did. Probably try one out vs a g sport since I can get alienation local. Odyssey unfortunately doesn’t have a very good Canadian distro. At least from a shop perspective.

Look at the gsport site. Both alienation rims are lighter than the birdcage. Yea the front rim only is very very light. And i believe it’s only the vandal with the coating that makes the brakes better. Hands down best brakes I’ve ever had without putting something on a rim.

Oh damn birdcage I heavier than I thought. Also the deviant while listed as front only can work in the rear surprisingly well if you don’t need sidewalls that work with brakes. And yeah I meant the vandal not the felon. Yeah probably because of any texture there is on the rim. Doesn’t take much to increase performance. Deffs gonna have to try one. Ghetto hack for better performance than chrome is used textured paint. But it can destroy pads so yeah kinda risky.

Do you know if the Vandal rim will be available in Polish any time soon?

Its water transfer so its not painted but its also not a sticker

These weigh 14.7 oz but the Gsport Birdcage Rim weighs 14.5 oz... am I missing something ?

Yes, 1 oz. haha GSports website says they weigh 15.5.

I will most likely do a live stream and use my method of transferring spokes one at a time to the new rim. I’d build it from scratch if I knew I could get the spokes exactly the same way so you couldn’t see the wear mark on the flange
