ARE TUBELESS TIRES THE FUTURE OF BMX?

Ойын-сауық

Today I try out tubeless for the first time on my bmx. These alienation bmx tires are a prototype at the moment and should be out in the coming months. They can be used with tubes or tubeless. Let me know what bike part you want to see tested here next!

    Tubeless is great. As there's not two layers of rubber interacting with each other the sidewall is suppler giving a better performing tyre. To fix a big hole there's a small dynaplug tool you stab into the tyre that leaves a plug with a brass end on it embedded. Use a ton of Soapy water if you're having trouble seating/and or remove valve core to allow more airflow for that initial seat. I do hundreds hope it helps

    Also fill your tire with sealant through the presta/shrader. Pulling the core out 10× easier. And no mess!!

    Great stuff as always Mike! Would be interesting to get your thoughts on different size bars. If you swapped bars that were a little lower than your current bars and then ones that were a little higher than your current ones. Pros and cons of both and how they affected your ability on different tricks

    I run the Maxxis Hookworms front and rear 2.5 tires on my bike. With the back end slammed, there’s just enough clearance. There definitely a little heavy, but there SO SMOOTH!!! I’m not too worried about weight anyways, I prefer a little bit heavier bike for the stability in the air...

    Do you need special alienation rims for the tubeless version of these tires to work or does any rim work? Also how did your tire get flat? One last thing, do you need to ride high psi for tubeless to work because i always thought that tubeless would be better for low psi as there wouldn’t be pinch flats and also most tubeless mountain bikes ride low psi. Sorry for all the questions but if i were to get these tires, i wouldn’t want to have to get new rims and change the air pressure in my tires to a pressure i don’t like, not to mention them getting flat all the time (which I hope is not the case but i am suspicious of that due to your tire getting flat after one session).

  • @MikeFede

    @MikeFede

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey!! Thanks for the questions. With this tire you just need a rim that is tubeless compatible for the proper seal. You can do a rig job and make any tire tubeless but it’s really sketchy. This can be run in low or high psi. This specific tire goes to 85 psi and I ran about 80. I got the flat due to not getting the actual rim seal tape that’s like plastic and would have stopped my spoke from poking through when I hit it. That’s how the flat came about. I will be revisiting this video again soon and doing weight comparisons of different tubes with the pros and cons of all. Some people like just a regular tube and go and some like to get into the real specs of things. I appreciate your questions 🤙🏽
